Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, received his initial dose of a coronavirus vaccine Tuesday morning. Fauci was among a group of federal government health officials and health care workers who were vaccinated. A clinical trial of the Moderna vaccine indicated it is 94% effective against the coronavirus. Those who are administered Pfizer's vaccine are asked to return 21 days later for a booster.The vaccine was one of two authorized by the FDA for emergency use. Earlier this month, Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine received an emergency use authorization from the FDA. The vaccine will be the first of two shots. Those vaccinated with Moderna's coronavirus vaccine will be asked to get a booster 28 days later.Fauci has expressed optimism that getting the US to herd immunity through a coronavirus vaccine will begin allowing Americans to return to normal. (KGTV) - 10 people escaped a fire that destroyed a motor home and damaged a house in El Cajon Saturday.The flames broke out at 3:25 a.m. on Emerald Ave., Heartland Fire crews said.A motor home parked in the carport suffered the most damage but parts of the house were gutted.Two people inside the motor home and eight people in the house were not hurt.They declined help from the Red Cross.Heartland Fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire. 482
EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV)- A man in an El Cajon neighborhood is frustrated after weeks of watching an Amazon delivery driver speed through his neighborhood. The resident, who didn't want to release his name, said, “I mean, there’s been times I've seen them go 10 to15 miles per hour, then I’ve seen them go 20 plus.”The signs in the neighborhood list the speed limit at 5 miles per hour. With the holiday season among us, the delivery traffic is up. "With Amazon, they pull down our street maybe 3 to 4 times a week and I’d say more than half the time they’re speeding," he said.He was able to identify the company affiliation because of the Amazon packages in the car and on the dashboard. The neighbor tried reaching out to Amazon but didn’t like the response he got."The very first thing the lady said to me was, 'do you have proof'.” 10News reached out to Amazon and talked with a representative on the phone. They say they’re trying to track down the driver using the time and date in this surveillance video so they can address the issue with them directly. 1070
EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- An El Cajon Police officer is recovering after being hit in the head with a hammer during a foot pursuit with a suspect. According to police, the incident happened near West Douglas Avenue and Van Houten Avenue. Police responded the scene after a suspect, later identified as Robert Dille, 30, reportedly shattered several windows at a Jack in the Box while trying to rob an armored truck making a delivery. Once they arrived, officers chased the suspect on foot. During the chase, Dille struck an officer in the head with a hammer after a Taser was ineffective. The officer was taken to the hospital before being treated and released. 711
