SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Students have been released from school following reports of shots fired in the area around Kearny Senior High School Wednesday afternoon. According to San Diego Police, officers were alerted to the reports around 2:20 p.m. So far, no one has been taken into custody and police are still searching for a scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The cities of Escondido and La Mesa are taking measures to help restaurants expand outdoor dining after a rollback of indoor dining in the county due to surging coronavirus cases.Starting Friday, Escondido will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction on Grand Avenue, between Maple Street and Juniper St., to allow restaurants to expand temporary outdoor seating. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The FBI is investigating following a hazmat situation in La Jolla Thursday afternoon. According to authorities, the incident started around 1 p.m. on the 9400 block of La Jolla Farms Road near UCSD and the Scripps Reserve trail. Throughout the afternoon, people who appeared to be workers at the home could be seen sitting outside with bags wrapped around their lower legs. The unidentified substance is being cleaned up by hazmat crews and, at this time, it's unclear what led to the situation. Neighbors say the home was being rented out and a new tenant recently moved in.The Department of Environmental Health said they found a contaminant and that it is contained with no threat to the community.The final Hazmat crews left around 7:30 p.m. 798

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Gubernatorial Primary Election is on Tuesday, June 5. Voters who are interested in getting their ballots in before Election Day can now do so at the San Diego County Registrar of Voters office.Early voting began on Monday, May 6 after the United States Postal Service sent out more than 1 million mail ballots. These ballots appeared in voters' mailboxes the very same day.Early voting continues through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m and until the polls close on Election Day at 8 p.m.The Registrar of Voters Office is open for weekend voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3.
