Four Oklahoma teens had planned to spend the evening hanging out together. They had no idea that by the time the night would end, they would be running into a burning house to save the life of a 90-year-old neighbor.Last month, Dylan Wick, Seth Byrd, Nick Byrd and Wyatt Hall -- all between 14 and 17 years old -- were at Hall's home in Sapulpa, outside Tulsa, when they first noticed the smell of burning rubber. Then, they saw flames coming from the home of his elderly neighbor Catherine Ritchie. The teens -- all high school football players -- wasted little time. Two of them broke into the house, and the other two called 911 and alerted the neighbors.Ritchie was getting ready to go to bed when the fire began. 729
Google Maps is about to get some new features that will help users report on incidents such as accidents and speed traps in an upcoming update. These real-time reporting features were popularized by the navigation app Waze, which is owned by Google.Waze has a devoted user base because it can sometimes give drivers a better picture of the road conditions that may affect the drive. Navigation apps like Google Maps previously did not identify road conditions that could affect traffic, such as speed traps.Android users had already been able to report crashes, speed traps and traffic slowdowns right on the app. However, these features were previously unavailable to iOS users.A global update that will bring this functionality to both platforms began rolling out to users last week, 797

Former President Barack Obama visited the Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. on Wednesday dressed in a Santa hat and carrying a bag full of gifts. In a video posted by the hospital on Twitter, Obama led a chorus of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” with hospital staff before thanking them for their work. “We had a chance to talk to some of the wonderful kids and their families at a time that is obviously tough to folks,” Obama said. “As a dad of two girls, I can only imagine in that situation to have nurses and staff and doctors and people who are caring for them and looking after them and listening to them and just there for them and holding their hand, that is the most important thing there is. “What a great reminder of what the holiday spirit is supposed to be all about.”During his visit to the hospital, Obama dropped off gifts for some of the children staying at the hospital.
