While residents of The Bahamas are still recovering from Hurricane Dorian, which struck the islands last week, a new storm forming in the Atlantic could pose a threat.The storm, which is being called "Potential Tropical Cyclone No. 9," is swirling in the central Bahamas. The storm is expected to gain strength and move northwest, toward the same islands pounded by Hurricane Dorian. Abaco Island and Grand Bahama Island are among the areas under the tropical storm warning. The two islands faced major devastation from Dorian. Also, Nassau is under a tropical storm warning. The National Hurricane Center expects the cyclone to become a tropical storm on Friday or Saturday. The storm then could strike Florida on Saturday as a tropical storm. Like Dorian, the forecast does not guarantee a landfall in Florida. As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the tropical storm has top winds of 30 MPH. A Hurricane Hunter aircraft is expected to reach the tropical cyclone Thursday evening, and could give the public a better idea of how strong this storm is and could become. 1066

Two sheriff's deputies were injured in a shooting in Memphis, Tennessee, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday.Both deputies were taken to local hospitals. When schools closed their doors to students due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some children were left without necessary services they were used to getting at school--everything from counseling to speech therapy."Definitely, first thing I thought of was how can we continue the speech therapy and not disrupt his normal schedules," said parent Ryan Flynn. Flynn says his 6-year old son, Dylan, was in speech therapy at school twice a week and was doing so well that his sessions went down to once a week. When the pandemic hit and their school shut down, he was worried his son’s progress would regress. We can type and communicate, and it makes such big difference because it’s so interactive," said Ben-Aharon. When former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was arrested on Friday on third-degree murder charges, more details emerged on how George Floyd died while in police custody on Monday. According to a report prepared by prosecutors in Hennepin County, Minnesota, Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes, 46 seconds. For the final two minutes and 53 seconds, prosecutors said, Floyd was unresponsive. Police body cams showed that at 8:24:24, Floyd stopped moving. At 8:25:31, video showed that Floyd stopped talking and breathing. It was not until 8:27:24 when video showed that Chauvin removed his knee from Floyd’s neck, prosecutors said. The prosecution’s report said that “police are trained that this type of restraint with a subject in a prone position is inherently dangerous.”After Chauvin lifted his knee, Floyd was placed on a gurney and taken to the hospital, where he pronounced dead. The county medical examiner reported to prosecutors that several factors likely contributed to Floyd’s death. “The autopsy revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation,” the report read. "Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease.
