A Valrico, Florida mom is sharing her experience on social media after she said she was asked asked to wait outside the Plant City DMV office with her infant daughter.Liz Gatley, a stay-at-home mother of three girls, said she was asked by a representative at the Plant City Tag Office to take her one-year-old daughter outside or come back another day. In a picture on Facebook you can see at least four young children, one in a stroller, and the mothers waiting outside the office. Gatley said her daughter, as well as the other children were not being disruptive and said she's a firm believer of taking them outside if they were. In the post, Gatley wrote, "I was so mad but I was also embarrassed and confused," she said. She went on to say, "for you to embarrass me and be extremely rude, unapologetic and not understanding the fact many moms are stay at home moms with little to no help, is what bothers me."Gatley said she and the mothers stood outside with no bench or air conditioning as they waited two hours to be seen at the office. At the end of the post she said, "if you have children, go to another location!"Doug Belden with the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's spoke with Tampa-based WFTS on Friday afternoon. He apologized to Gatley and the experience at the Plant City office noting it was not the friendly and efficient policy that is in place.Belden said he called Gatley directly and told her he would meet with her at her earliest convenience, even throughout the weekend to help get the facts of what happened. Belden said he is outraged that Gatley experienced this at his office, and that children are always welcome in the offices across Hillsborough County.He went on to say that he will be looking into this employee, and taking appropriate measures -- and even went as far to say he plans to check with the landlord to see if they can install benches outside the office. We asked Belden if Gatley should have gone back inside, and he said "absolutely" adding if he found out about this situation at the time, he would have taken care of this immediately. Gatley said Belden was sincere in his apologies and plans to take him up on his offer of meeting with her as soon as possible.  2349

A preschool teacher was arrested on Wednesday after deputies say admitted to biting a 2-year-old student on the face.Heather Marcotte, 28, has been arrested on a charge of felony cruelty to a juvenile in Louisiana.The mother of a 2-year-old student called the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office saying that when she picked her son up from school, she noticed the bite mark on his cheek.The mother said an administrator at the school informed her that her son’s teacher reported that she left the mark on the child "when her mouth accidentally hit his face" and that the teacher had been terminated following the incident, according to the Sheriff's office.Marcotte admitted to deputies that she bit the child after she became frustrated and agitated with his behavior. A Twitter account misleading Democratic voters in Virginia by telling them they could cast their ballot by text message was active for almost three hours on Tuesday morning before Twitter suspended the account.The account, "MAGA Mike King," was suspended after it tweeted more than a dozen times a graphic purportedly instructing Virginians on how to vote by text and including the logos of the Democratic Party and its gubernatorial candidate, Ralph Northam.The account doesn't appear to have had much success spreading its message, with less than a handful of interactions on each of the offending tweets, but to some observers that's almost beside the point. Their concern is that the account remained active for almost three hours out of the 13 hours that polls are open in Virginia, despite the fact that Twitter knows these sorts of efforts are a potential problem on its platform, and has claimed success in fighting back against them. 950

A new study out of a pediatric medical center in Chicago suggests that young children do not only spread COVID-19 more efficiently than adults, but they could be major drivers in the pandemic as schools start to reopen.The report was published at the end of July and examined concentrations of COVID-19 in the nasopharynx, or the upper region of the throat that connects nasal passages. According to the results, children ages 5 and younger who develop mild to moderate symptoms have 10 to 100 times as much COVID-19 in their nasopharynx as adults.“This is a very complex issue involving not just the virus, but everything else,” said Dr. Kwang Sik Kim, director of pediatric infectious disease at Johns Hopkins University Hospital. "We don’t have any real data to indicate to schools what they should do, what is the best recipe they need to follow.”The study raised concerns about the erratic behavior of children and how it could play a factor in the virus’ spread, reading, "Behavioral habits of young children and close quarters in school and daycare settings raise concern for SARS-CoV-2 amplification in this population as public health restrictions are eased.
