ON ABC10.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) When ESPN heard about wrestler Jonathan Garcia, network officials knew exactly what to do.The teen who overcame a lifelong battle with cerebral palsy to make the Del Norte High School wrestling team earned an honorary ESPY award this week for his courage and determination.10News Sports Director Ben Higgins presented the award to Garcia and his coach, Lucas Factor. Garcia is determined not to let cerebral palsy keep him from pursuing his passion for wrestling. "Losers makes excuses, winners make adjustments," he told 10News, adding that wrestling helped save his life.Garcia wrestled two seasons at Del Norte, and went on to be named the most inspirational wrestler in the state of California. WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — A Pasco County photographer recruited her friends for a creative Halloween photoshoot involving pizza and pumpkins.Jennifer Sapountsis said the COVID-19 pandemic has been stressful for everyone."Trick-or-treating has changed a lot and people can't do as much stuff, so why not just try to bring smiles to people's faces and have fun with it," said Sapountsis.She asked her friends, Chris and Sarah Weed, to carve two pumpkins. The three then went to The Edison, a venue in Dade City.The couple was photographed wearing pumpkins on their head. They also ate some pizza."I feel like pizza and beer is an iconic thing for couples when they're chill. What do you want to do on a date night? Let's order some pizza, some beer, chill out," she said.The couple also dressed as ghosts and danced around. Sapountsis shared the photos on her Facebook page, Jennifer Alyssa Photography."I've gotten a lot of responses. I've seen other people try to do the same thing. I've seen a lot of people say that this is what I needed for my day....this was so funny, I want to do the same shoot next year," she said.She said she hopes the pictures make people laugh and smile. She also said her friend's husband was not crazy about the idea until he saw the finished product."He loves his wife, so he was okay doing it and going that extra step...there was so much laughter, so much fun. He was absolutely okay with it at the end. "People are happy to see their friends but it’s still hard to think about all those lives that were lost.”U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was on campus meeting with students and teachers. The meeting might give her more insight as she continues her broader talks on how to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. DeVos has said she is open to allowing guns in schools but says the decision should be left to local communities.President Trump is in favor of arming teachers, saying that too many of these shootings happen in gun free zones.“A gun-free zone is, ‘Let’s go in and let’s attack, because bullets aren’t coming back at us,'” Trump said.Students at Stoneman Douglas have been vocal for change since the shooting last month. Their rallies were heard loudly and they have put pressure on lawmakers to enact gun reform during their visits to Tallahassee and during school walkouts. During a news conference, DeVos gave credit to the students for finding their voice and for taking interest in seeing what adults are going to do in response to the massacre. "People across the country in states and communities have addressed some of the concerns, some of the issues that have arisen here," DeVos said. "But we need to help elevate those opportunities and make sure people know there are solutions that can be engaged immediately."When pressed about the solutions she referenced, the secretary did not offer specifics. WASHINGTON D.C. -- Environmental regulators announced Monday that they will ease emissions standards for cars and trucks, according to the Associated Press.Current regulations from the EPA require vehicles by 2025 to get 36 miles per gallon in real-world driving. Regulators said the reason for the change is that the timeline put in place by the Obama administration wasn’t appropriate and set standards too high.The announcement will affect vehicles for model years 2022 through 2025.The changes could set up a legal battle with California, which has the power to set its own pollution and gas mileage standards.Other states also follow rules set by California and together account for more than a third of the vehicles sold in the U.S. Currently state and federal standards are the same.EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said in a statement Monday that the agency will work with California to finalize new standards.The agency said Monday that regulations set under the Obama administration, "presents challenges for auto manufacturers due to feasibility and practicability, raises potential concerns related to automobile safety, and results in significant additional costs on consumers, especially low-income consumers."Automakers praised the decision, saying current requirements would have cost them billions, raising vehicle prices."This was the right decision, and we support the Administration for pursuing a data-driven effort and a single national program as it works to finalize future standards," said Gloria Bergquist, vice president, communications and public affairs for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, in a statement. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department’s subpoena to Hunter Biden sought information involving more than two dozen entities to examine some of his foreign business ties, including with Ukrainian gas company Burisma. That's according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press. The subpoena was issued this week as part of the Justice Department’s tax investigation of the president-elect’s son. It’s unclear what the significance is of the Burisma-related request — whether Biden’s work there is a central part of the investigation or whether prosecutors are simply seeking information about all the entities he has worked with in recent years.As part of the same investigation, prosecutors have also been scrutinizing some of his Chinese business dealings and other transactions. 818
