SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The young woman killed while walking on Interstate 8 in the College Area Saturday was a San Diego State University Student, the Daily Aztec reported.The California Highway Patrol said the woman was on the right hand shoulder of westbound I-8 at Waring Rd. just before 8 p.m. when she was struck and killed.Officers shut down most lanes of the freeway to investigate the crash.The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman Monday as 20-year-old Jasmine Madarang.The Daily Aztec reported she was last seen at a Kappa Alpha tailgate party before SDSU's game against Stanford.CHP investigators are looking into the cause of Madarang's death. 706

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is warning San Diegans about a mysterious and possibly deadly counterfeit drug being traded on the streets. The department says they believe the pills have caused four overdose deaths in San Diego County over the last 36 hours. The deaths happened in Valley Center, Santee, Poway and Lakeside. “It’s being traded and sold on the streets with the promise of a painkiller high, but no one really knows what exactly is in the drug which makes it so dangerous,” the department said. Authorities say the pills are blue with one side marked by an "M" while the other side is stamped with a "30." The department says the pills are often called "M-30s" or "blues."While the department doesn't know exactly what's in the pills, investigators say these type of pills often contain fentanyl or carfentanil.Anyone with information is urged to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of children and their families enjoyed a Christmas miracle Saturday, as Toys for Joy delivered smiles across the county.About 8,000 - 9,000 people made their way through the lines outside four locations packed with toys as part of the event, at Lincoln High School, Cajon Valley Middle School, Castle Park High School, and Guajome Park Academy in Vista.At Lincoln High School, some families camped out for the event, waking up to toys and more generous donations. Every child under the age of 11 will walk away with a brand new toy. Families got their own holiday miracle, as other stations offer gently used clothing and also bring home groceries.Toys for Joy has been a free community event for 23 years and is hosted by The Rock Church. 776
