MIAMI, Fla. — A Florida man was arrested and charged after authorities say he bought a sports car with Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans.Officials say David Hines, 29, was charged with one count of bank fraud, one count of making false statements to a financial institution and one count of engaging in transactions in unlawful proceeds.The complaints allege that Hines asked for around .5 million in PPP loans through applications to an insured financial institution for different companies. He received .9 million in PPP loans.The complaint says Hines submitted fraudulent loan applications that made numerous false and misleading statements about the companies' payroll expenses.He used those funds, in part, to buy a 8,000 2020 Lamborghini Huracan sports car for himself. MAUI, Hawaii (AP) — Authorities say the man killed by a shark in Hawaii this weekend was a 65-year-old resident of California.Shark warning signs are posted Sunday in the Ka'anapali Beach Park area on Maui where the man died.Witness Allison Keller tells Hawaii News Now that the man appeared unconscious as rescuers brought him to shore Saturday.Keller says the victim was missing his left leg from the knee down and skin was torn from his wrist.Hawaii's Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement confirmed the man's age but did not release his name. Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday that it was elevating seven early 20th century all-Black baseball leagues — known collectively as the "Negro leagues" — to "Major League" status.The move recognizes the players in those leagues — who were prevented from playing for National or American League clubs because of racist "color barriers" — as Major League players and formalizes any surviving records or statistics from those leagues.Between the late 19th century through 1947, owners of National and American League clubs mutually agreed not to hire any Black ballplayers.
