SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in San Ysidro and Tijuana are fearful of what will come next after hundreds of migrants rushed the border Sunday in a show of force.Commuters told 10News they fear that they won’t be able to get across a bridge in San Ysidro to work or cross over to see family.In Mexico, residents say they’re fed up with the flood of migrants. “Deport them back to where they are, let them over here. They need to get out of Tijuana because it's just crazy for us,” said Candace Sanchez, a Tijuana resident.On the US side, those with family south of the border are concerned with what the future holds. “It worries me that the border might get closed. I mean it's like uh what's going on? We've never really seen this before,” said Victor Juarez.Employees who depend on their jobs in the US are also frightened. “Kinda scary because you know, I mean, every day we just know that we have to do what we have to do every day just to survive,” said Dana Aviles.Many people missed a day of work due to Sunday’s border closure, taking a toll with the holiday gift-giving season approaching. “I just hope they get out of here in Tijuana and let our lives be normal again, you know,” added Sanchez. 1213

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are looking for the driver that hit and killed a man in Chollas Creek early Friday morning.SDPD officers say it happened around 1 a.m. on Chollas Parkway. The man was either standing or walking in the street when a speeding car hit him.The victim died at the scene, police confirmed.Police do not have a description of the car but say it was a racer-type vehicle with a loud muffler. It was last seen driving southbound on 54th Street.SDPD's Traffic Division is investigating the crash. 531

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a man died in custody after reportedly breaking down a fence and walking into someone’s home Tuesday afternoon. Police were called to the 2900 block of Hornet Way around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call from someone saying a man, later identified as Buddie Thomas Nichols, 40, had entered his home through a rear door. According to police, the man broke down a fence and walked into the home through an open back door. Two of the residents were upstairs while their 9-year-old daughter was asleep downstairs, according to police. Police say one of the residents came downstairs when he heard commotion and confronted Nichols, punching him twice in the face and rendering him unconscious. Police say the suspect woke up and ran out of the house displaying bizarre behavior after the resident kicked him. Witnesses told police they believed the man was on drugs. When police arrived and tried to take the Nichols into custody, officers say he resisted, forcing them to use physical force to get him into handcuffs. After paramedics arrived, police say Nichols became unresponsive and later died after being taken to the hospital. 1215

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County Congressman Duncan Hunter spoke Tuesday morning to a group of women who support him despite accusations that he and his wife misused campaign funds.“Women Volunteers in Politics” gathered for the speech at the Bali Hai restaurant on Shelter Island. The event was booked months before Rep. Hunter’s indictment.Hunter spoke to 10News before the event.“Leave my wife out of it, leave my family out of it. It’s me they’re after anyway. They’re not after my wife; they want to take me down, that’s what they’re up to. So let’s get this in the arena and have this settled,” said Hunter.Tuesday's statement was a change from Hunter's message the morning after the indictment was announced. When asked about the accusations levied against his wife, Hunter confirmed that she was in charge of campaign expenses but added, “That’ll come out in court. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Real estate company Zillow launched a new service in San Diego Monday that gives homeowners another option for selling their property.The service, called Zillow Offers, will present a cash offer to homeowners who want to sell their home as-is, without the need for open houses or renovations.This is the second market in California that Zillow has offered the service. In the last quarter, Zillow charged an average fee of 7.5% on transactions in the cities it currently operates.“Are they going to get top dollar? No, they are not,” said Mark Goldman, a loan officer and a former real estate professor.On the flip side, Goldman realizes the advantage comes in the form of convenience.“What they are getting is turning the house into cash very quickly and with the least amount of hassle,” said Goldman.In San Diego, realtor Kyle Whissel will be working with Zillow on the ground to act as Zillow’s buying agent as well as their selling agent once the home is market-ready.“We’ll give [Zillow] our opinion of value, they’ll punch that into their algorithm and that will spit it out a price to the homeowner,” Whissel said.The homeowner will then decide if they want to sell at that price, after which they can set a close date within as little as 5 days.“Zillows goal is to come in at market value, make a little bit of improvements, similar to improvements someone would make to put their home on the market,” said Whissel. “Once those are made, we’ll put it back on market at the new market value.” 1527
