Rap musician T.I. was not happy to hear that a Florida student was being denied a meal for being 15 cents short on the first day of school. Last week, T.I. announced he was going to pay for the student's school lunch bill, for the entire year. "This s--- is despicable!!!" T.I. tweeted. "This is the kinda s--- that deters kids from coming to school. I’d like to take care of her school lunch for the year. I hate to hear this type of thing happening to our children. Petty a-- peon a--, poor excuse for a grown person."Earlier this month, Kimberly Aiken told WKMG-TV in Orlando that her daughter, a sophomore at University High School in Orange City, Florida, was told that she owed 15 cents when she went through the lunch line. When she told the cashier that she didn't have any money on her, the cashier allegedly threw the food away.Aiken's daughter did not eat anything for the rest of the school day.According to CBS News, Aiken signed her daughter up for a free and reduced-cost lunch program at University High School. However, the program hadn't taken effect yet. Aiken suspects that the 15-cent deficit was carried over from last year.A spokesperson for the Volusia County Public Schools said the district has contacted the family directly about the issue. 1310

President Trump on Monday denied that he offered Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) a million charitable donation if she would take a DNA test that proved she had Native American heritage."Who cares," Trump said when asked about Warren's DNA test. "I didn't say that, you'd better read it again."During a rally in Great Falls, Montana on July 5, Trump posed a hypothetical scenario in which he and Warren squared off in a presidential debate. Trump stated that if Warren were to bring up her claimed Native American heritage during the debate, he would immediately ask her to prove her bloodline with a DNA test."We will say, 'I will give you a million dollars to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump, if you take the (DNA) test and it shows you're an Indian,'" Trump said.Warren called out Trump's false statement in a tweet on Monday."Having some memory problems, @realDonaldTrump? Researchers at University of Michigan have developed a fake news detector to help fight against misinformation. The technology is "an algorithm-based system that identifies telltale linguistic cues in fake news stories." The team says the system is "comparable to and sometimes better than humans at correctly identifying fake news stories."According to their study, linguistic analysis tracks things like grammatical structure, word choice, punctuation and complexity. But there are challenges to making sure the system properly deciphers stories. Researchers say the difficulty in building a fake news detectors is not in developing the algorithm itself, "but in finding the right data with which to train that algorithm."The system is still in its beta stage.
