Gavin Newsom said Tuesday he's worried about family gatherings around California ahead of the Fourth of July weekend and will announce new measures to dial back reopenings on Wednesday.Newsom said the prospect of family gatherings, not just bars or demonstrations, this weekend has health officers worried about the continued spread of the coronavirus. He added that new measures related to enforcement will also be announced on Wednesday."Tomorrow we will be making some additional announcements on efforts to use that dimmer switch we've referred to and begin to toggle back on our stay-at-home order and tighten things up," Newsom said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Extreme temperatures set several records in cities across San Diego County on Saturday.As the region sweltered under the heat, the mercury went soaring. Seven records were set, including:Escondido: 111 degrees (old record was 108 in 1984)Ramona: 112 degrees (old record was 102 in 2006)Alpine: 113 degrees (old record was 110 in 1984)El Cajon: 114 degrees (old record was 107 in 1984)Palomar Mountain: 97 degrees (old record was 96 in 1955)Campo: 108 degrees (old record was 104 in 1955)Borrego Springs: 117 degrees (old record was 113 in 1989)Poway unofficially set an all-time record of 113 degrees, but it falls out of the National Weather Services 30-year period of record.Temperatures across the county on Saturday were forecasted to hit as high as 122 while many coastal areas could see high 90s.Saturday into Sunday, overnight temperatures along the coast, inland, and mountain areas will hover in the 70s most of the night, and 90s and 80s in the deserts. Its windows are completely covered by brown paper, and the door is shut.But on the other side of those coverings, it's very much business as usual."I have the right to at least fight for my business," said owner Meagan Crowell.Crowell said she could not stomach another closure. She said she only got a ,000 federal Paycheck Protection Program loan, and no other stimulus benefits to help get through."I have two kids," she said. "They are two and four years old and I'm not going to sit back and allow them not to eat."Crowell says she takes the virus very seriously - and that she dipped into her savings to make her salon COVID safe and keep the lights on. But those efforts are still not enough for the governor's new shutdown order, which says salons must close as ICU capacity continues to decrease.And other than two clients rescheduling, Crowell says she's completely booked."I want you to always love the person you see in the mirror, and I think mental health is a huge, huge issue," she said.Meanwhile, the county has served nearly 30 restaurants, bars, gyms and religious organizations with cease and desist orders since the shutdown took effect Monday.
