Beverage maker Coca-Cola has slowly been announcing the cancelation of brands over the last few months, this week they officially announced they are cutting the number of brands they offer in half: saying goodbye to 200 brands.Earlier this month, the company announced plans to discontinue Odwalla juices, Zico coconut water, TaB diet soda, Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, as well as regional brands like Northern Neck Ginger Ale and Delaware Punch. In a statement, the company said reducing their brands by 50 percent will help them focus on its most profitable offerings and new offerings like Topo Chico hard seltzer and AHA flavored sparkling water. In a comment to investors, CEO James Quincey said they had finalized the list of which brands will remain, but he would not give specifics. He did say the "hydration" category, which includes drinks like Dasani water, Powerade, Vitamin Water and Zico, will see more cuts, according to CNN. Zico was already announced as being on the chopping block. "Throughout this year's crisis, our system has remained focused on its beverages for life strategy. We are accelerating our transformation that was already underway, shaping our company to recover faster than the broader economic recovery," said James Quincey, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company. In addition to cutting brands, the company announced they are changing their company structure that will result in both voluntary and involuntary reductions in staff.Coca-Cola reported a 9 percent decline in net revenues in the third quarter of 2020. 1571

BOULDER, Colo. – A 12-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted while holding a Trump sign as he rode his bicycle this week, according to a statement provided by the victim’s father to the Boulder Police Department.Jesse Rosales told officers his son came home from a bike ride early Monday afternoon and told him a woman had assaulted him.The boy told his father a woman on a moped spotted him, made a U-turn, drove up to him and said, “You want something to look at?”Police said the woman then used a closed fist to strike the boy in the back of the head and arms several times, and also caused a scratch on the boy’s left arm. While it did not cause pain, the boy told his father the scratch “burned,” according to the report. The police report states the woman then reportedly tried to take the Trump sign from the boy’s hands, who was using it to defend himself against the attack before she took off.The boy described the woman as white, in her late 20s to mid-30s with blondish brown hair past her shoulders. She was last seen wearing a small tan jacket, a blue shirt and blue jeans and was riding a grayish blue moped with a black seat. The boy said it wasn’t the first time he’s been attacked for showing support for President Donald Trump, though it is the first time it’s been done by an adult, the boy claimed. The boy said he was just holding the sign between his arms and riding his bike when the alleged assault happened, contradicting what the Boulder police report states – that the boy had the sign showing on the back of his bike.Recalling the attack, the boy said the woman “just looked at me and laughed” as she passed him before she reportedly started hitting him.The boy said he was confused as the attack was happening and said he is disappointed with people who attack others solely for their political views.“I like showing what I believe in,” the boy said. “I didn’t want any conflict – I just wanted to show what I believe in," the boy said. The boy, who said he’s now scared to show his support for Trump, asked for mutual respect and also asked that people stop attacking one another.“Just don’t attack people ‘cause what she did to me – that’s not okay,” he said.In a statement Wednesday evening, the Republican National Committee called on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and Colorado Democrats to “disavow this act of hatred and violence on a child.”Boulder police said the boy’s father wants to pursue criminal charges against the woman. This article was written by óscar Contreras and Adi Guajardoor KMGH. 2549

Because obesity is a high-risk factor for COVID-19, there’s been an increased interest in bariatric surgery during the pandemic. Now, there's some evidence the procedure does in fact lower a person's risk of severe symptoms.“When the metabolic profile of the patients improve, patients are getting healthier and seem like they can fight the virus stronger and their outcomes are going to be better,” said Dr. Ali Aminian, Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. The Bariatric and Metabolic Institute identified patients who had weight loss surgery prior to getting COVID and matched them against a control group of obese patients who also got COVID-19. Only 18% of those who had surgery were hospitalized with COVID-19, compared to 42% of the obese patients.None of the people in the surgery group ended up in the ICU, on a ventilator or died. Some in the obesity group did.Doctors believe because they had surgery, that group was healthier.Aminian says the number of bariatric patients at the Cleveland Clinic is almost double what it was last year. He stressed it’s a very safe, but not simple procedure.“It's a tool. It's a very safe tool. It's a very effective tool,” he said. “We help them in the journey, but patients need to use the tools to succeed.”Bariatric surgery candidates meet with a dietitian, psychologist, regular doctor and surgeon both before and after surgery.Despite the evidence of weight loss and surgery improving numerous conditions, access is still an issue. Even those with insurance may still only get a portion of the surgery paid for. 1606

BALTIMORE, Maryland — Police are investigating a murder-suicide that started in Baltimore County and ended in Anne Arundel County on Wednesday.Around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Baltimore County Police found 28-year-old Amber Lynne Cox dead inside her home in the 10600 block of Davis Avenue in Woodstock. They say she was shot at least one time. According to police, Cox's husband, 35-year-old Harry Anthony Ray, was the one who killed her.
