VISTA (CNS) - An ex-con who stole a car with a 6-month-old baby inside from an Escondido shopping center pleaded guilty to felony auto theft and was immediately sentenced to four years in state prison on Monday.Anthony Guerrero, 31, entered his change of plea during a hearing at the Vista courthouse. He also admitted that he was convicted of robbery in 2009 and 2015, said Deputy District Attorney Nicolette Estrada.Dispatchers received a call from the baby's mother at 10:06 p.m. on Dec. 4 saying that her Mercedes-Benz sedan was stolen from outside a 99 Cents Only store at the Civic Center Plaza Shopping Center on North Escondido Boulevard. She said her 6-month-old child was in the vehicle.A short time later, a police officer spotted the Mercedes in a parking lot in the 1200 block of North Escondido Boulevard, less than two miles from the shopping center where the car was taken, said Escondido police Sgt. Suzanne Baeder. As the officer approached, the suspect, later identified as Guerrero, got out of the car and ran.He was taken into custody after he crossed the street and the baby was found inside the car unharmed, Baeder said. 1153

Ralph Northam has declared a state of emergency in Charlottesville this weekend as the city braces for demonstrations on the one-year anniversary of deadly white supremacist rallies.While the group who organized last year's "Unite The Right" rally will be marching in Washington, DC this weekend, the city of Charlottesville is bracing for large crowds according to the city website.Violence broke out at the first "Unite The Right" on Aug. 11 and 12 last year in Charlottesville as white supremacists and counter-protests clashed. One counter-protester was killed when a white nationalist rammed his car into a crowd. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A head-on collision at a Vista intersection left one driver dead and sent three others to the hospital, San Diego County sheriff’s officials said.The collision involving two vehicles happened just before 11 p.m. Thursday on West Vista Way at Copper Avenue.According to sheriff’s officials, a black Infiniti sedan was traveling westbound on West Vista Way when it collided head-on into a blue Chevrolet hatchback that was traveling eastbound on West Vista Way.The Chevrolet’s 51-year-old male driver died at the scene, while a passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The Infiniti’s 22-year-old female driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to officials. A passenger in the Infiniti suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.The cause of the crash is under investigation, but officials believe alcohol was a factor in the collision. 935

(KGTV) - A 10-year San Diego Sheriff's Department employee has been arrested for groping a 14-year-old girl at a North County restaurant this year.Timothy Wilson Jr., a 32-year-old Vista detention center deputy, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of felony lewd act on a child for the March 21 incident.
