by switching to take-out and delivery only. Some restaurants have had to lay off workers or put them on furlough. As restaurants struggle to stay in business, one Arizona boss is going all out for his employees.Pete Stidham, owner of the Original Breakfast House in North Phoenix, has decided to donate 100% of all his take-out order proceeds to the employees he has had to put on furlough."This way at least they get a little something in their paychecks. It's not the full amount but it's something," said Stidham. The California beach-themed restaurant has been a staple in the neighborhood for the last seven years. Stidham, who has worked in the restaurant industry since 1966, says he knows the plight of his employees."I started as a dishwasher at Denny's 50 years ago. I know how hard it is and how employees are struggling, just barely making their bills. It's tough. They're the ones suffering the most," said Stidham.Employees who worked at the Original Breakfast House told KNXV they were extremely touched by their boss' move."John is just a remarkable man. We're his family. He is our family. [We're] just so thankful. He didn't have to do that," said Seta Garabet, who has been a server at the diner for five years. She, like others, suffered a big hit to her paychecks due to the sudden decline in business, and the move to take-out only. "It's been about 0 less. It's tough. We're deciding what bills to pay. It's a roll of the dice right now as to what bill I'll pay," said Garabet.Stidham, who is in his early 70s, says he could have easily closed the shop and gone home to take a break. The only reason he's kept the doors open, he says, is so his staff can get paid. "I'm a single man, got no wife, no kids. But here we've got 30 employees. Among those 30 employees, they've got 25 kids. Those kids gotta eat," he added.Loyal customers have also been generous to the staff, giving them big tips. While KNXV was in the restaurant a customer dropped off a check for 0 with a note stating it was "for your wonderful staff". The diner is located at 13623 N 32nd St, Phoenix, AZ 85032.This story was originally published by Sonu Wasu at KNXV. 2164

citing an official autopsy released Friday.Skaggs was found dead in his hotel room on July 1 after he was late arriving to the stadium in Arlington, Texas. Skaggs had pitched just two days earlier. The Skaggs family released a statement to the Los Angeles Times: "We are heartbroken to learn that the passing of our beloved Tyler was the result of a combination of dangerous drugs and alcohol. That is completely out of character for someone who worked so hard to become a Major League Baseball player and had a very promising future in the game he loved so much.“We are grateful for the work of the detectives in the Southlake Police Department and their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tyler’s death. We were shocked to learn that it may involve an employee of the Los Angeles Angels. We will not rest until we learn the truth about how Tyler came into possession of these narcotics, including who supplied them. To that end, we have hired attorney Rusty Hardin to assist us.”According to the CDC, fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. Vomiting is considered one of the side effects of fentanyl, especailly when mixed with alcohol. 1178

With September in full swing, families across the country may consider taking part in some fall activities like pumpkin picking or trunk-or-treat events. But how safe are these activities during the pandemic? Many businesses are doing their best to create safe, socially distanced and fun activities for families this fall.Benton Family Farms in Kentucky is encouraging people to still come out and grab a pumpkin this year."We probably have the best crop you could ever imagine," says Mary Marcum.Marcum's family has owned Benton Family Farms for more than 70 years. The pandemic has hit her family's nonprofit business extremely hard, but they're still committed to bringing some fun events to people in the autumn months."We’re actually having a craft show this weekend. I took that opportunity because all of the high schools were shut down, they couldn’t have their normal [craft exhibit]. Crafting is a big thing here," says Marcum.Dr. Kenny Banh is an emergency physician and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education at UCSF-Fresno. Dr. Banh says certain outdoor events could be safe for families this fall."I think all outdoor activities, if done properly, can be done safely, and that includes pumpkin patches and stuff like that," says Dr. Banh.He says following local and state ordinances is key. Also, don't assume that just because an event is happening, that all safety precautions are being taken to protect people from spreading COVID-19."Make sure you’re aware of the difference between [the business being] open, we should do this to what you should be doing. I think the responsible thing is to not say, ‘No it's not ok but go in.’ Understand that this is what I should be looking for. Are we able to stay social distant while we’re at the event? A red flag would be, oh gosh, we’re doing a hay ride and we’re all stacked right next to each other doing a hay ride. Then they're probably not adhering to guidelines," says Dr. Banh.Dr. Banh says trunk-or-treat events that could have close contact without masks is likely a bad idea. Dr. Banh says many people have quarantine fatigue and are still wanting to get out and about. Just make sure that while you're looking to bring some pumpkin spice into your life this fall, that it doesn't come at a cost to your health and safety. 2313
