SAN DIEGO (CNS) - After being reassured that motorists' privacy would not be compromised, the county Board of Supervisors Wednesday unanimously approved a plan to electronically collect license plate data as part of a vehicle- emissions study aimed at improving air quality.Under the plan, the county Air Pollution Control District will use automated license reader software to analyze vehicles at 12 intersections in disadvantaged communities, including Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, Sherman Heights and western National City.A state grant will pay for the ,500 automated license plate reader system, which will collect license plate numbers and vehicles' weight, make and model.Jon Adams, assistant director of APCD, said the data will be collected in a secure method and kept at the district office, and would not be shared with anyone else. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Gusty Santa Ana winds will sweep through San Diego County Monday amid dry conditions, raising the risk of wildfires in the mountains and the inland valleys, according to the National Weather Service.The agency issued a wind advisory that will be in effect until 5 p.m. Monday in the coastal areas and the western valleys.Winds out of the northeast are expected to be between 25-35 mph, with sustained wind gusts potentially reaching 55 mph, forecasters said. Humidity will drop to around 5-10% Monday afternoon with poor overnight recovery.This combination will create an elevated risk of wildfires in the mountains and the western valleys through Tuesday, according to the NWS. Outdoor burning is not recommended.To reduce the risk of wildfire in some parts of North County, SDG&E notified approximately 21,480 residents over the weekend that it may have to turn off power Monday and Tuesday. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - County supervisors Wednesday unanimously approved the .1 million purchase of a nearly seven-acre parcel for a park in the community of Fallbrook.The 6.8-acre property, owned by Barr Ranch LLC, is located south of Fallbrook Road between Morro and Golden roads.Supervisor Jim Desmond, whose district includes Fallbrook, said the town doesn't have enough parks. He added the county will hold meetings with residents to see what kind of amenities residents would like included. He said some early requests include playgrounds and a skate park.Fallbrook currently has three local parks, providing 1 acre per 1,000 residents. That number doesn't meet the General Plan goal of 10 acres of local parkland for that same number of people.Money for the park purchase will come from a community development block grant, according to county documents.
