Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the Trump administration remains willing to work on a bipartisan agreement to help small businesses, the unemployed, children and schools afftected by the coronavirus outbreak. Mnuchin at a hearing Tuesday accused Democratic leaders of holding up an agreement with hard-line positions. Democrats insist that dire economic conditions persist and say a larger relief package is needed. "I believe a bipartisan agreement still should be reached and would provide substantial funds for schools, testing, vaccines, PPP for small businesses, continued enhanced unemployment benefits, child care, nutrition, agriculture, and the US Postal Service, along with liability protection for universities, schools and business," Mnuchin said. The sides had largely agreed on providing many Americans with a second stimulus check of ,200 before talks broke down in early August. Outside of the direct payments, the sides disagreed on a number of issues. Mnuchin and top congressional Democrats have been in a monthslong stalemate over new relief legislation, with the two sides trillions of dollars apart. Lawmakers left Washington for the August recess without an agreement. At the end of July, a 0 per week unemployment supplement expired. Also funding from the Paycheck Protection Program has long been depleted. The program was implemented to help employers make payroll during the pandemic.The two sides are at odds over how much of unemployment should be supplemented by the federal government. THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KGTV) -- Five people were arrested Sunday in Ventura County after attempting to steal several Apple products from the store inside The Oaks Mall. Around 3:17 p.m. three of the suspects entered the store, all wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods up, police said. Once inside the group proceeded to steal Apple iPhones and laptops totaling ,000.00. All three suspects ran out of the store, crashing into and knocking down a female customer. Police said other Apple customers were able to tackle two of the suspects - identified as Donte Sims and Timothy Terry, both of Antioch, California - and keep them down in time for law enforcement arrived. Sims and Terry were arrested on criminal conspiracy and burglary charges. The third suspect got away but was seen getting into a waiting vehicle. Around 3:36 p.m. Sunday, a Ventura County Sheriff patrol deputy caught a vehicle with three people driving over the speed limit on State Route 118 in Simi Valley. Sacramento resident Mona Benoit was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Her passengers, Tynisha Noel of Fresno and Edward Benton of Antioch were arrested after a search of the vehicle revealed that the Apple merchandise stolen from the Thousand Oaks stores was in the vehicle - along with merchandise reported stolen after a burglary in Los Angeles. Thousand Oaks Police Department Detectives identified the group as an organized retail theft crew and are investigating.  1571

On average, we check our phone nearly 100 times a day. Jamie Gallegos says, her phone is her “contact to the world.” She always has her phone on her and when she doesn’t she has anxiety.Dr. Patrick Fehling says, it’s easy to get addicted to your smartphone, because it has so much to offer.Dr. Fehling compares smartphones to drugs like Xanax and Heroine. “They are incredibly responsive and you get immediate gratification and that seems to be very connected to addiction as a whole. Most of the drugs that are the most addicted drugs of abuse tend to be incredibly fast on and fast off.” Gallegos uses her phone throughout the entire day. She’s guilty of checking her phone, even if it never goes off. But, how do you know you’re addicted to your smartphone?Dr. Fehling says to look out for signs like you are “on your phone all the time getting into arguments with your spouse, getting into fights with your family, and everyone is asking why can’t you be more engaged or pay more attention to them instead of being distracted by these mobile devices.”If these situations aren’t happening in your life, Dr. Fehling says symptoms come along with addiction too. For example, “anxiety, symptoms of depression or sadness, irritability or sleep problems. If you get up at night needing to check your phone.”If you are addicted to your phone and are looking to disconnect without having major withdrawals, Dr. Fehling says there are simple tasks you can do to help. “When you get into your car put your phone inside your glove compartment. You can’t actually look at it, you are not drawn to it. When you plug in your phone at night, put it on a different floor of your house.”It’s best to set concrete boundaries for yourself and your phone usage. Make them small enough to achieve daily, but large enough to see progress long term. 2035
