A 2-year-old girl died on Friday after a mirror fell at a Payless Shoes store near Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Ifrah Siddique was pronounced dead at a Georgia hospital shortly after being transported from the shoe store. (KGTV) -- Proponents of Proposition 15, a measure that would affect commercial and industrial properties, said it would bring in much needed money to local governments and schools.“In public schools, we are in dire need of full and fair funding,” said Christina Benson, an elementary school teacher in National City and president of the National City Elementary Teachers Association.Prop. 15 would base property taxes for commercial and industrial land and buildings on current market value rather than original purchase price. This would apply to properties more than million. That does not drive the cost curve down, it drives doctors out.”It’s a quick fix he says that could cost you more in the long run. “You're looking at a state that's already facing a shortage of physicians,” Mazer said.Supporters site a New York Times article that says Americans pay up to 20 times as much as people in other countries for the same medical treatments.That's the problem they hope to solve with doctors at the table. “If they're not part of helping us come up with a solution to this, this unsustainable healthcare system is going to take all of us down,” Kalra said.California has seen a similar plan in the past. (KGTV) -- With federal unemployment benefits set to expire July 31, state lawmakers are proposing a plan that would provide some financial relief for jobless Californians.Congress has until Friday to extend the CARES Act, which provides an extra 0 in unemployment benefits to Americans out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic.Proposals have been laid out in Congress to either extend the current federal benefits or extend them with a reduction of the 0-per-week amount, but no agreement appears to be close as the deadline approaches.With time running out, California lawmakers are considering their own plan if a federal one does not materialize.Several state Democrats have proposed a 0 billion stimulus plan that would provide extra cash for California’s unemployed should the federal benefit expire.In a news release from state Sen.
