SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California has joined nearly two dozen states and municipalities in suing the federal government to stop a new rule that lets health care clinicians decline to provide abortions and other services that conflict with their moral or religious beliefs.California's Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed a lawsuit Tuesday in San Francisco that calls the rule unlawful, reckless and contradictory to laws that seek to protect patients from discrimination and ensure access to care.It says the new rule effectively authorizes discrimination and could curb access to health care for LGBTQ Californians, among others.A similar lawsuit filed in New York federal court on Tuesday was brought by 23 states and municipalities.The city of San Francisco sued over the regulation on May 2, hours after President Trump announced it. 845

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police say a man was stabbed by his ex-girlfriend in a home on 3500 block of Adams Avenue just before 2:45 p.m. Sunday.A witness said she saw the man hobbling after the ex-girlfriend as she drove off. The witness followed the car long enough to get the license plate number.The man was bleeding from the right thigh.Police say neighbors jumped in to help the man, before he was transported to the hospital. Police say he is in stable condition.The ex-girlfriend returned to the scene and was arrested. Police say another man was arrested, who was involved with the ex-girlfriend.Adams Avenue westbound at 36th Street is shut down, and may reopen around 6 p.m., according to police. 728

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- This Christmas local chefs and volunteers gave the gift of gourmet meals for those in need. It was a two day process. “Just Call Us” Volunteers prepared the food, from scratch, before serving it to the homeless. The volunteers made enough to feed over 400 people. Early this afternoon, the chefs and volunteers delivered the food to three different shelters. The largest being the Alpha Project tent, in Downtown. “We all appreciate it. They all deserve a good meal,” says a staff member with the Alpha Project. Over a dozen volunteers donated their time at the Alpha Project. More volunteers visited Rachel’s Women’s Shelter and San Diego Center for Children. All of the items are donated from Specialty Produce, Cupcakes Squared and Sprouts Farmers Market. Just Call Us Volunteers gives back to those in need year around. They encourage everyone to come spread a little cheer throughout the year. 925

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 64-year-old man is recovering after he was beaten in Kearny Mesa by a group of street racers so severely he had a brain bleed and fractured disk. "I felt my RV jostling around, like maybe they were standing on my bumper, so I got out and went around back to look and I look up and someone's standing on my RV," said the victim, who did not wish to be identified.Police said the beating happened on June 28 around 9:30 p.m. A group of street racers arrived in the area for an apparent “meet up” and gathered into a large group. Multiple vehicles arrived at the location and began doing “burn-outs” in the street. Some members of the group climbed on top of the victim’s RV. When the victim walked out of his vehicle to confront them, three of the men attacked him. Another man stole the man's phone from his pocket as he was lying on the ground unconscious. "The last thing I remember is one of his buddies jumping out and I don’t know what happened after that; I probably got hit from behind."The suspects fled the area in a grey, possibly 2003 Audi A4 sedan. The man was left lying in the street. Employees from a nearby business ran out to help him and called an ambulance. San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Eastern Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the attackers.
