PETERSBURG, Fla. — A high school football player in St. Petersburg, Florida, is brain dead after collapsing during Friday night's game, according to the teen's mother.After a group tackle, 17-year-old Jacquez Welch of Northeast High School never stood back up. Paramedics rushed Welch to Bayfront Hospital where doctors discovered a pre-existing brain condition that no one knew about. They say Jacquez was born with arteriovenous malformation, also known as AVM. It's an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins in the brain. Marcia Nelson, his mother, was in the stands when it happened. She said in a press conference Monday that her son is brain dead and his collapse had nothing to do with the sport."I don't want anybody to be scared of sports," Nelson said. "It just happened to him at an early age, doing what he loved to do."Nelson said the family is working on making her son an organ donor to seven people. The family plans to take Jacquez off life support Monday night after an honor walk at 10 p.m. at Bayfront Hospital. "I am content. This is not anything I could control," Nelson said calmly. Nelson said Jacquez was a giving person and he would be proud that his organs will be used to save other lives. Nelson says football was his passion. Honda has received more than a dozen reports of leaking valves, but no injuries have been reported. The generators were sold at authorized Honda Power Equipment Dealers, The Home Depot and other home improvement stores nationwide and online from February 2018 through February 2019 for about ,100 to ,300.This recall involves Honda EU2200i, EU2200i Companion and EB2200i portable generators. Delivering healthcare to Americans is once again a central question in this year's presidential election, and the plans proposed by two of the top Democrats in the 2020 field have very little in common. For Elizabeth Warren, she is proposing an entirely public plan with no role for private insurance. At the June presidential debate, Warren agreed that she would eliminate private insurance if she has her way. “Look at the business model of an insurance company,” Warren said. “It's to bring in as many dollars as they can in premiums and to pay out as few dollars as possible for your health care"But a change from private to public would be a dramatic change for most Americans. Nearly 66 percent of Americans used private insurance in 2017, according to U.S. Census figures. Also, a number of Americans are employed by insurance companies. According to the Insurance Information Institute, more than 500,000 Americans are employed in the insurance industry. Although both Biden and Warren still lack key details for their plans, Biden has stated his goal is to have 97 percent of Americans insured. The number of uninsured in 2010, at the time of Obamacare's passage, was nearly double, according to the Census.
