The Air Force acknowledged Monday it did not appropriately relay Kelley's court-martial conviction for domestic assault to civilian law enforcement, preventing the information from appearing in the federal database that licensed gun dealers are required to check before selling someone a firearm. "Had his information been in the database, it should have prevented gun sales to Kelley," the Air Force said in a statement. 421
Taylor Parker was in the shower when he heard what sounded like an earthquake."I got my towel on, ran out my front door, and all I see is a big bulldozer, tearing up my yard and went through the house," Parker said. "I flagged the guy to stop, jumped in front, basically yanked him out.""You can't fathom that somebody just went through your house, it just doesn't seem real," Parker said. "It basically felt like an earthquake; the whole house was shaking for a good 20, 25 seconds."Fortunately, no one was hurt. Parker said his two kids were at school at the time.Parker does not have an estimate on how much the damage will cost."I couldn't give you a figure, I just know it's going to be a lot of money," he said. The bulldozer driver was supposed to be doing work at another home down the street. Parker said the driver took the bulldozer to the back of his house several times, as well.Spring Hill Police responded to the scene. They said they did not know why the bulldozer ended up at Parker's home. Officers gave the bulldozer driver a blood test. This story was originally published by 1094
Superintendent John Hill says an investigation that began with a parent's complaint found at least 46 students ages 14 to 18 were involved in what could be prosecuted as felony child pornography. That's nearly 6 percent of the school's population.School police continue investigating, but Hill says the district hasn't pushed for criminal prosecutions. Students were instead suspended temporarily or sent to an alternative school, based on the severity of their actions. 470
Some experts said this isn't a time panic. The pullback -- particularly for tech stocks -- is needed, argued Joe Heider, president of Cirrus Wealth Management."The selloff is healthy," Heider said. "Since the market bottomed in March 2009, it's been more than 10 years of growth stocks leading the way non-stop."Investors were "selling first and asking questions later," said John Augustine, chief investment officer with Huntington Private Bank.Augustine added that with earnings due out from big banks JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Citigroup (C) and Wells Fargo (WFC) on Friday morning, investors will look for new market sectors to take the lead from tech stocks. In theory, banks should do better if the Fed keeps raising interest rates and bond yields climb higher since it will make their loans more profitable. And Geoff Alexander, the president of R. M. Davis, a wealth management firm, said he wasn't getting too nervous about Wednesday's market madness either. As long as earnings and the US economy are continuing to grow, this market pullback will wind up being a healthy dip Alexander said. The relative lack of volatility was a bit troubling. This slide was long overdue."We've scratched our heads about the rise in stocks for the past 18 months. But this nothing to be overly concerned about," Alexander said. 1313
