After a brief flirtation with resurrection, Nickelodeon's "Double Dare" is back -- for real, this time.The game show favorite will return to the network this summer to give "a new generation of kids the chance to compete in the messiest and most physically challenging competition of their lives," Nickelodeon announced Wednesday.The decision to bring the series back comes about a year and a half after Nickelodeon paid tribute to the game show with a 30th Anniversary special."Double Dare" ran on Nickelodeon from 1986-93 and was revived for brief run in 2000.The original show was hosted by Marc Summers and co-hosted by Robin Marella.It is not yet known who will host the new iteration. Actor, writer and media producer Tyler Perry has offered to pay for the funeral for Rayshard Brooks, the man who was killed during an altercation with police in Atlanta on Friday.Attorney L. Chris Stewart, who is representing Brooks' family, said during a press conference on Monday that Perry had offered to pay for funeral arrangements."We want to acknowledge and thank Tyler Perry, who we spoke with, who will be taking care of the funeral for the family," Stewart said. "And it's support like that and it's people who are actually in this community, that love the community, that want healing and families like this to never have to go through something like this. It's a step forward and we want to thank him for such a generous move."Perry has been known to provide funeral services for others in the past. According to ABC News, he paid for the funeral services for two 15-month-old twin sisters who died after they left in a hot car in Georgia in 2016. In 2019, he reportedly paid for the funeral of a single mother of four children from Milwaukee.Earlier this month, boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. paid for the funeral services for George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis police custody. Brooks was killed on Friday when police attempted to take him into custody for DUI. A struggle ensued, and Brooks stole an officer's stun gun and tried to flee the scene. Officer Garrett Rolfe shot Brooks in the back twice, and Brooks later died in surgery at a local hospital. (KGTV) — Homicide detectives were investigating after a woman was shot and killed in a quiet Alpine neighborhood on Saturday.Around 2 p.m., a resident heard a scream and called 911.San Diego Sheriff's deputies found a woman's body lying halfway out of the passenger seat of a car in front of a neighbor’s driveway in the 3000 block of North Victoria Drive.Deputies detained a man on foot about a half mile away with two hand guns, said Lt. Rich Williams, San Diego County Sheriff's Homicide Unit."The suspect in this case has been identified as forty-two-year-old Paul Paraschak of Alpine," said Williams.Paraschak has been arrested for one count of murder and booked into the San Diego Central Jail, where he is being held without bail. A woman has been charged in connection with the death of her 3-year-old daughter.Cassandra Kay Michalski, 24, has been charged in Wayne County, Michigan with felony murder and first degree child abuse for the death of Skylar Michalski.On Nov. 19, Skylar was taken to the Annapolis Hospital where she was pronounced dead.Police say she appeared to have injuries on her head, neck and back. On Feb. 2, the medical examiner determined that her death was a homicide.Cassandra's bond is set at 0,000.   528

After months of protests, sometimes becoming violent, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler announced Thursday that the city is banning the use of tear gas by his city’s police.Wheeler said everyone has an obligation to create change, and now is the time to change the city’s policy on using tear gas.“During the last hundred days Portland, Multnomah County and State Police have all relied on CS gas where there is a threat to life safety,” Wheeler said. “We need something different. We need it now.“Arson, vandalism, and violence are not going to drive change in this community. I expect the police to arrest people who engage in criminal acts. I expect the District Attorney to prosecute those who commit criminal acts. And I expect the rest of the criminal justice system to hold those individuals accountable. We must stand together as a community against violence and for progress.”The issue of using tear gas amid protests has become a legal battle, as demonstrators say that the use of tear gas to disperse a crowd violates their constitutional rights. In June, U.S. District Judge March Hernandez ruled that the use of tear gas on protesters in Portland could only be used when lives are at risk.The police responded on Thursday by saying gas is a tool needed by officers to control crowds when protests become violent.“Banning the lawful use of CS will make it very difficult to address this kind of violence without resorting to much higher levels of physical force, with a correspondingly elevated risk of serious injury to members of the public and officers,” the Portland Police said in a statement. “CS, while effective, is a significantly lower level of force than impact weapons, which would very likely be necessary to disperse riotous groups with its prohibition. We do not want to use gas. We do not want to use any force.”As to why tear gas is used instead of police going in to make an arrest?“To make an arrest in the middle of a crowd intent on destruction and injuring people, it takes considerable resources--large numbers of officers that we do not have,” the police said. “Not only do we not have enough PPB officers to respond in this manner, our area partners have stated they will not come to our aid, given the climate in Portland.”The city’s downtown has dealt with protests and unrest since Memorial Day following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Adding to the challenges for law enforcement in recent weeks, counter-protesters have arrived and clashed with Black Lives Matter supporters.The unrest culminated on August 29 when Aaron Danielson was shot and killed. The suspect in the case, Michael Forest Reinoehl, was later killed by US Marshals in Olympia, Washington. The US Department of Justice claimed that Reinoehl was a supporter of ANTIFA.
