Hillsborough County, Florida deputies arrested a Chase Bank call center employee for stealing account information, adding her boyfriend to the accounts and making withdrawals.31-year-old Dakima Williams and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Darius Lopez, are being charged with the crimes.“I went to pick up a prescription and when I went to pay for it with my HSA card it said I had a balance of like ,” Kari Krause, whose joint HSA account with her husband was compromised, said.Krause, who lives in Texas, says investigators told her the suspect had a duplicate debit card created to make the transactions. Lopez made two trips to a Chase Bank in Tampa to pull money from the account, withdrawing ,000 and the ,000.Chase reimbursed the couple and began investigating the incident. In total, deputies say nine accounts were compromised.“As soon as we discovered this, we notified authorities and worked with them on the investigation. The employee was terminated and we reimbursed affected customers. We also put additional safeguards in place to prevent this type of behavior by restricting access to certain account information and adding extra layers of verification,” Chase Spokesperson Michael Fusco said in an email.Chase also sold their Health Savings Account Business prior to the incident. You see the threat, the detection on your phone. You get an email if you're an operator. You're able to quickly mitigate that issue.”Al-Momen told News 3 the product is in the final stages of third-party testing. She and her husband never wait to file their taxes because she depends on her refund.But like almost five million other people, they still file paper returns because they are most comfortable doing that."We mailed our paper forms at the end of February," she said.But five months later, Mack still doesn't have her refund."A total of 18 weeks have gone by since we mailed in our return," Mack said.She tried calling the IRS, she says, but like countless other taxpayers, ran into a brick wall."They say they aren't taking calls at the moment," she said.Why refunds are taking so long this yearThe IRS's national taxpayer advocate now says as 4.7 million people who filed paper returns will have very late refunds.That's because the agency furloughed thousands of workers this spring and stopped processing paper returns for two months, creating a huge backlog.Paper processing has restarted, but workers are far behind.Mack needs her tax refund badly."It means a lot to us," she said. GENEVA — The U.N. health agency says the world’s largest randomized trial of COVID-19 treatments found “conclusive evidence” that remdesivir, a drug used to treat U.S. President Donald Trump when he fell ill, has little or no effect on severe cases. The World Health Organization has announced long-awaited results of its six-month “Solidarity Therapeutics Trial” that endeavored to see if existing drugs might have an effect on the coronavirus. The study, which was not peer-reviewed, found that four treatments tested — remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir and interferon — had “ little or no effect on 28-day mortality or the in-hospital course of COVID-19 among hospitalized patients.” Remdesivir was the only drug of the four that had not largely been ruled out as ineffective in fighting COVID-19. 826
