SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are searching for a group of males targeting local Apple stores in the North County.Police said two Apple locations, one in Carlsbad and the other in Escondido, have been targeted in a series of grab and runs. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police have identified the woman shot and killed, allegedly by her boyfriend, at a Point Loma strip mall earlier this month.San Diego Police said 20-year-old Octavia Williams of Phoenix, Ariz., was fatally shot in the parking lot at 4013 W. Point Loma Blvd. just before midnight on Oct. 9.Paramedics transported Williams to the hospital where she died.MAP: Track crime happening in San Diego CountyPolice identified Williams' killer as 41-year-old Joe Bennette Conway. Conway is believed to be Williams' boyfriend, according to City News Service, and the shooting took place after an argument.Conway was described as 5’7” tall and 150 pounds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Wednesday arrested a woman they say vandalized a church Monday afternoon. Kelly Duggan, 26, was arrested after police say she caused more than ,000 worth of damage to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.10News Reporter Bree Steffen Reach out Duggan, who agreed to a jailhouse interview. Duggan told us that she's in an emotional state, heartbroken over her mother's death. "I don't know what's going on anymore, and that's what's making me mad," she said. "I'll still pay for it, that's fine."According to authorities, Duggan threw a wooden kneeler at a Plexiglas window protecting a religious shrine, breaking both the kneeler and the glass.Duggan also destroyed several flower vases decorating the shrine before leaving the church, police say. She was arrested for felony vandalism after being spotted in Barrio Logan.Duggan said she didn't vandalize the church out of disrespect or hate for the faith. The church told 10News they caught Duggan's action on their surveillance cameras but didn't share the video because they worried that people who saw might harm her. Duggan had this message for the church: "Thank you for forgiving me, you know, out of the kindness of your heart."  1265

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Over the next three days, City of San Diego crews will remove hundreds of palm trees from the Rueda Canyon in Tierrasanta by helicopter.The city is working with the San Diego Canyonlands nonprofit and the San Diego River Conservancy throughout the process, which is expected to last through Friday.Hikers and joggers are warned not to enter the canyon while the tree removal is underway.“It’s extremely dangerous for anyone to be in there, it’ll actually stop the operations,” said Eric Bowlby, Executive Director of San Diego Canyonlands.The palm trees are not native to this region. Bowlby added they aggressively establish themselves and grow along the narrow stream at the bottom of canyons. The trees absorb so much water, they hinder the growth of all the native plants in the area.Because these palm trees grow so quickly, they’re also very hard to maintain. Dead fronds often create a skirt around the trees that’s not only a fire hazard but also becomes an area for pests, like rats, to live and breed.“We’re going to be removing some 300 mature Mexican Fan and Canary Island Palm Trees from Rueda Canyon,” said Bowlby. “That would be about 90,000 pounds of fuel that would otherwise remain in the canyon and in the event of a fire add a tremendous amount of danger and fuel to the community.”Once the trees are removed, they will be replace with trees native to our region, like Willows and Coast Live Oaks.The project was funded with money from a state grant. 1498

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect who shot a man in City Heights Wednesday afternoon.According to San Diego Police, the man was shot in the back at the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and Thorn Street near Clark Middle School and Manzanita Canyon.The shooter left the area with two other men, according to San Diego Police officer Billy Hernandez. The three were described as Asian men, one in a white shirt with the letters "SD" on it in red printing, the others in black shirts, Hernandez said.Police shut down traffic near the shooting scene and searched the area with a helicopter and ground crews. Officers found a gun possibly connected to the case in an alley. There was no sign of the shooter.Paramedics took the shooting victim to the hospital.
