(KGTV) — San Diego County will set up a coronavirus testing site at one of the world's busiest border crossings.County Supervisor Greg Cox said Wednesday the testing site will be at San Ysidro Port of Entry's PedWest crossing and serve about 200 tests daily. The testing site will be used for essential workers coming into the U.S. from Mexico and returning U.S. citizens. The walk-up site will also be appointment-free.PedWest serves pedestrians between Tijuana and San Diego. 504

(KGTV) - The City of San Diego may want to learn a lesson from Santa Monica when it comes to rental scooters.Santa Monica just created new parking spaces for the electric scooters and e-bikes called Shared Mobility Drop Zones. After numerous complaints about riders leaving the scooters on sidewalks, the city decided to take action.San Diego has several bike and scooter companies providing rentals, including Bird and Lime.When asked about the possibility of creating similar parking spaces locally, a spokesman for Mayor Kevin Faulconer said, "The City is looking at a variety of ways to encourage the use of alternative modes of transportation, while keeping the public right of way clean and safe. As an example, we are in the process of installing more than 100 bicycle racks in different parts of the City. (KGTV) -- Firefighters responded to a brush fire in San Marcos Sunday afternoon. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the fire broke out on the 500 block of Sarver Lane around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.CalFire said that the forward progress of the fire has stopped and that two acres have burned.The only reported damage was to a small, abandoned outbuilding, the Sheriff's Department said.All roads are open near the scene of the fire.
