A Wisconsin woman's death was possibly caused by an infection from a dog lick, the same infection that is plaguing one West Bend, Wisc. man. Earlier this month Greg Manteufel developed a similar infection, resulting in the amputation of his hands and legs. Doctors believe it was from a bacteria transferred to him when a dog licked him. Sharon Larson had just gotten a puppy. It nipped at her, causing a minor cut. A day after taking him to the vet for a check-up, Larson was rushed to the hospital. “I was told she could get struck by lightning four times and live, win the lottery twice,” said Sharon’s husband Dan Larson. “That’s how rare this is supposed to be."Dan Larson is still in shock. He thought she had the flu.“General antibiotics that they put her on didn’t do anything,” he said. Within two days at Wheaton Franciscan in Franklin, Sharon Larson was dead, at 58-years-old. “I feel like I got robbed. Lost my right arm. My best friend,” Dan Larson said. Doctors told him she tested positive for capnocytophaga. They say the bacteria, found in the saliva of most dogs, cats, even some humans, is rarely problematic and almost never deadly. But when certain people come in contact with it, it can have devastating consequences, like for Sharon. “I had no knowledge,” said Sharon’s son Steven Larson.Sharon’s son wants more answers since there is no real tracking of how many cases there have been.“What do you want people to know? After the Trump Campaign requested the presidential debates be moved closer to the election because some states will begin mail-in voting while the debates are being held, the Commission on Presidential Debates denied the campaign’s request.In a letter addressed to Trump campaign surrogate Rudolph Giuliani, the commission said it will stick with its planned three presidential debates – the first being held on September 29, and final one on October 22.“ In 2016, when the debate schedule was similar, only .0069% of the electorate had voted at the time of the first debate. While more people will likely vote by mail in 2020, the debate schedule has been and will be highly publicized,” the commission wrote. “Any voter who wishes to watch one or more debates before voting will be well aware of that opportunity.”As part of Giuliani’s request, Trump’s team sought an additional debate this fall.The Trump campaign quickly countered the debate commission’s response.“We are disappointed in your response, but appreciate your openness to a fourth, or earlier, debate ‘if the candidates were to agree that they wished to add to that schedule[,]'" wrote Giuliani. “Your reply makes it clear that the idea of an earlier debate is, in effect, locked away in the basement, alone and diminished. Adopting a child from another country can take years. For some families, the pandemic added even more waiting time as countries shut down.However, as travel opens back up, agencies are finding ways to help families complete their adoptions, like the adoption of Maria Camila in Colombia.“For most of the summer, we were waiting for just word we were able to travel to Columbia. Just waiting for them to open up,” Seth Christensen said. Seth and Gwen Christensen live in the U.S. with their three children. They started the process of adopting another child years ago, and just this October, they were able to travel to Colombia and bring her home.“That was a stressful time but we made it. We made it to Columbia,” Gwen said.We interviewed Seth and Gwen back in May, right after they went to Colombia for two weeks in March to adopt Maria Camila. However, they had to return to the U.S. without her due to COVID-19 and government closures.“Everything was just going swimmingly until, sorry they shut down all the courts in the whole country,” they explained back in May. “We had to send her back to her group home and it was awful. But she was old enough, she kind of understood, we cried and she was like OK.”So they waited, talking with their adopted daughter over FaceTime all summer until October, when they were invited back into Colombia to complete the process.“It was a complete do over. All the fees, all the appeals, everything,” Gwen explained. “But we got through faster than some families did.”“There were so many parents going through the system at that point than is normal that everyone was just overwhelmed,” Seth said about their most recent experience in the country. Due to the delay time, many families took the first chance they could get to return and finish adoptions.Seth and Gwen spent a month in Colombia, finalizing documents to bring Maria Camila back to the U.S. It's a process Gwen said usually would take less than three weeks, but for them took two separate trips.“There has been a backlog on the travel piece,” said Hollen Frazier, President at All God's Children International. The agency facilitates adoptions from a number of countries, including the adoption of Maria Camila. While the process is slower right now due to countries catching up, quarantine periods and other processes, she said adopted kids from most countries are finally getting home.“In the last six months we’ve seen kids come home from Bulgaria, Haiti, Columbia,” she said. Except for those from China. “All of our families from China, they’re all still stuck. Completely stuck,” Frazier explained.Most countries are finding ways to complete the adoption process safely after many were put on hold all summer. “Because there were so many other families around it definitely helps to kind of see other people in the same situation,” Seth said.After a long wait, Maria Camila now lives in the U.S. with her new siblings. “They’ve been excited to meet her and play with her and introduce her to things,” Seth said.The 12-year-old 6th grader started school this month. “She just started online school this week and that’s an adventure,” Gwen said. 3159

A man in Florida called police while Collier County Sheriff's deputies were chasing him Tuesday morning.The sheriff's office report said it all started because the suspect acted suspiciously. The sheriff's deputy went up to the car and smelled a smell similar to marijuana.The deputy spotted a baggie that contained a green leafy substance. The suspect then grabbed the bag, put it in his mouth, and sped away."I need help, please," said Aric Frydberg, the man who was arrested after the 7-mile pursuit on U.S. 41. "There's a police officer chasing me," he added.Fort Myers-based WFTX obtained the 911 call. The operator tried numerous times to get Frydberg to pull over.But during the phone call, Frydberg tried to get the operator to make some calls on his behalf. The first set of calls was to his parents."Call my mom, call my mom," said Frydberg. "Please call my mom," he added while on the phone.Then he took it a step further and wanted to speak to the president.  "Donald Trump is a close friend of mine," said Frydberg. "We made a deal," he added while he was trying to convince the operator.Frydberg then changed gears and tried a different strategy.  "My mom called me and said she was in a car accident in Homestead," he said. "My flesh and blood was in a car accident and I have to stop and help you," Frydberg added.Deputies eventually got him off the road and phone.The report goes on to say the deputies searched the car and found glass pipes with burnt leafy residue on them. Actor Brendan Fraser has accused a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group that presents the annual Golden Globe Awards, of groping him at an event in 2003.In a profile in GQ, Fraser recounts an encounter with former HFPA president Philip Berk at a luncheon hosted by the organization at the Beverly Hills Hotel.Fraser alleges Berk grabbed his rear end and, through his pants, touched him in the area between his genitals and his anus."I felt ill. I felt like a little kid," Fraser told GQ. "I felt like there was a ball in my throat.
