SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are asking for the public's help in locating a hit-and-run driver who ran over a pedestrian in a wheelchair in the East Village.Police said the pedestrian, a 47-year-old female who was in a wheelchair, was run over at the intersection of F Street and Park Boulevard just before 4 a.m. Saturday. The woman suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.The vehicle - described as a silver, newer model, SUV - stopped momentarily after running over the woman and her chair, before driving off westbound on F St., police said. The driver then turned northbound on 11th St. and was last seen driving eastbound on E St.Police said the suspected SUV has chrome rims, a tinted sunroof, and possibly tinted windows. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Rideshare drivers all over California are on strike protesting recent pay cuts by both Uber and Lyft. A small but vocal group of the drivers gathered at the San Diego airport Monday morning, opting to take part in a statewide protest against the companies they say are taking money out of their pockets. Recently, Uber announced it would be cutting drivers wage from 80 cents per mile to 60 cents. Workers say that’s on top of other cuts they’ve dealt with over the years. Drivers who spoke with 10News say other states like New York require companies to pay a minimum rate of more than per hour. Uber and Lyft both issued statements after the protest.Uber said in part, “…we're introducing a new Quest promotion feature, while also changing the per minute, per mile and minimum fare rates. These changes will make rates comparable to where they were in September."Lyft told 10News: "We are always open to conversations around how we can make Lyft better for drivers, but what we hear from the majority is that this is a flexible option that works for them." 1090

SDCE offers training certificates in healthcare, welding, information technology, cybersecurity, culinary arts, clothing, automotives, and more.For Richard Sanchez, who lost his job during the pandemic, it's a chance to start over after a layoff."I'm already 38 years old," Sanchez said. "To have this opportunity helps people out to get a new job and change your career."According to a recent report by SANDAG, around 460,000 people in San Diego have lost their jobs since March 7. The report says unemployment could be as high as 30%.Dr. Cortez said people who are looking for a job should look into continuing education first."It's incumbent on us to make sure that students who are coming through our program are developing the skills necessary to be successful in these career pathways," he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego City Council Tuesday night unanimously passed the location of a high-pressure underground pipeline to move sewage from San Diego's Morena treatment plant to a facility in Miramar. The City Council proposed constructing the pipe under a hilly route beneath some of the busiest intersections in Clairemont and University City.City Councilmember David Alvarez issued the following statement after the vote: 455

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego businessman Doug Manchester has suggestions about how to help the people of the Bahamas recover from Hurricane Dorian. “It's devastation. It's beyond all anything that anybody can imagine. The aerial pictures don't do it justice on how much devastation there really is,” Manchester told 10News Thursday. Manchester loaded his plane with supplies and went to work on the island nation with relief organizers. “When this happened, I wanted to go down there as a private citizen to see all I could do to help,” Manchester said. Rebuilding is going to be a long and expensive process but Manchester believes it will happen. “It's going to cost billions, so every little bit helps,” said Manchester. Manchester, who has a long history in the Bahamas, was nominated to be the ambassador by President Trump. The nomination has been on hold for more than a year. “It's political, but hopefully that will see itself through in the next couple months because I can do a lot more as an ambassador than I can as a private citizen." Manchester hopes San Diegans will be generous in their donations to the Bahamas whether it’s through his charitable foundation or another aid group. 1205
