Nitro is coming to a Starbucks near you.Every company-operated US Starbucks location will offer the nitrogen-infused cold brew coffee, which comes out of a tap, by the end of next year to meet customer demand, the company said on Thursday.The expansion is part of Starbucks' plan to sell more products next year — especially as Frappucino sales slip.Frappuccinos used to help drive sales for Starbucks. But in recent years, increasingly health-conscious customers have turned on the sugary blended beverages.Cold drinks like iced espresso, cold brew and Refresher juice drinks have driven more than 80% of Starbucks' beverage growth over the last two years, said Roz Brewer, chief operating officer for Starbucks, during the company's investor day presentation."As you know, our primary softness has been centered around Frappuccino," Brewer said on Thursday.Frappuccino drinkers tend to treat the drink as a one-off purchase, she noted. But customers are more loyal to cold brews and iced coffees. "These categories are more habitual and create more brand affinity," she said.The company is not moving away from Frappuccinos, Brewer noted. Starbucks is just offering new options for the blended drinks and expanding its cold drink portfolio.Starbucks started selling Nitro in its Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle. The brew was such a hit that Starbucks expanded it to 500 Starbucks stores later that year.Right now, 2,500 out of 8,500 US company-operated stores serve Nitro cold brew. The expansion is "pretty substantial for us," Brewer told CNN Business.Nitro-serving taps will be added to all Starbucks stores, Brewer added. "That equipment is coming in around the country now."Brewer said she especially likes how Nitro looks when it's being poured into a glass. That "little bit of theater," she said, adds a visual element to the drink.The company also plans to expand its blended coffee offerings next year."We've got some new things coming ... that will allow us to use Nitro technology plus cold foam," Brewer said. Starbucks introduced cold foam, which tops some of the company's iced drinks, this year. The mission is to take care of our kids."Jacob Stebel, a high school film teacher in the Bronx, said a pod system, where students would be taught in groups in a single classroom, won’t work with high schoolers.“Students will be grouped by the classes they have to take together, instead of students moving from classroom to classroom, teachers are moving from classroom to classroom," Stebel said.That would put him in six to seven different classrooms a day with just as many groups of students.“If I have to go into eight different classrooms a day, I have to set up my materials again,” he said.According to the mayor and city’s top educator, with a month to go, they’re still working through the details."One of the things we're working on right now, and, again, with a month to go, is how can we compress things so even at the middle school and high school level, there's less movement," de Blasio said. NEW YORK – Director Joel Schumacher has died at the age of 80.Schumacher passed away in New York City after a year-long cancer battle, Variety and TMZ have confirmed through the filmmaker’s representation.The native of New York was perhaps best known for directing films in the 1980s and 90s, like “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “The Lost Boys,” “A Time to Kill” and multiple “Batman” films when Tim Burton left Warner Bros.Schumacher's films featuring the caped crusader were "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin." And although the movies received largely negative reviews at the time of their release, they've developed into cult classics for many. NEW YORK CITY — A New York City mom allegedly threw her newborn son out of a bathroom window, District Attorney Melinda Katz said Tuesday. Sabina Dookram, 23, was charged with attempted murder, attempted manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment.“This is a heartbreaking situation," Katz said. "A newborn baby has suffered greatly because of the alleged actions of his mother, who now faces serious charges and a lengthy prison sentence."A neighbor heard crying sounds on Sunday morning, officials said. When she went outside, she found a naked newborn boy on the ground next to the building's garbage. Responding officers found blood on the ground, on the side wall leading up to the bathroom window and on the window sill. The baby was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, Katz said. He was placed on a ventilator. Doctors determined he suffered a traumatic brain injury with bleeding and swelling about the brain and scalp and an abdominal injury with internal bleeding.Dookram gave birth on Saturday afternoon, prosecutors said she told officers."I cut the cord with a scissor from the bathroom," Dookram said according to court documents. "I panicked and threw it out of the bathroom window. I did not check on the baby, I put my clothes in the laundry hamper in the bathroom, I showered and went to sleep.”Dookram faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
