BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- China stands ready to work with India to enhance communication and coordination on international affairs, to jointly safeguard the overall interests of the two countries and developing countries around the world, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.

The booming tourism also attracts more villagers who previously moved to bigger cities for better opportunities to come home and get a slice of the cake.

The year 2018 saw China launch its three-year actions in fighting the battle against poverty. Premier Li Keqiang vowed to reduce the poor population by ten million each year in all his government work reports over the past five years. He gave specific instructions on ways to push forward this work and to better manage the poverty alleviation funds.

Unlike previous patterns of quick sightseeing and shopping, Chinese tourists to Europe have been seen visiting many destinations for much longer time, and with more interests to interact with the local population, art and culture, said Wolfgang Georg Arlt, director of China Outbound Tourism Research Institute to Xinhua in a recent interview.

While delivering the government work report at the annual session of the municipal legislature, Shanghai mayor Ying Yong promised that the city will strengthen its efforts in reform and opening up, while pursuing high-quality growth in the year 2019.
