CAMPO (CNS) - One person was killed today in a traffic crash involving an overturned semi-truck on State Route 94, the CHP said.The fatal crash happened at 12:06 p.m. Saturday when a semi-truck was reported on its side in the right shoulder of SR-94 west of Buckman Springs Road with no other vehicles involved, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.Caltrans San Diego said all lanes of eastbound and westbound SR-94 were blocked and asked travelers to use an alternate route. CAMP PENDLETON (CNS) - A U.S. Marine was fatally injured in a tactical- vehicle accident at Camp Pendleton, the Marine Corps announced Monday. The serviceman was one of three members of the elite Marine Raider Regiment involved in the accident, which occurred during a training exercise on Saturday, according to Maj. Nicholas Mannweiler of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command.The critically injured Marine was airlifted to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead Sunday night, Mannweiler said. California health officials are warning residents not to eat oysters from British Columbia, Canada, following a norovirus outbreak.About 100 people got sick in California after they consumed the raw oysters, health officials said."As of April 27, approximately 100 individuals have reported illness after they consumed raw British Columbian oysters sold by restaurants and retailers throughout the state," the California Department of Public Health said."Laboratory testing has confirmed norovirus infection in several patients from both California and Canada. Although the number of reported new illnesses has decreased during the last week, the investigation is ongoing."Canada has reported 172 cases of gastrointestinal illness linked to consumption of raw oysters."Avoid eating raw and undercooked shellfish, including oysters, to reduce your risk of illness," said Dr. Karen Smith, a public health officer in California."If you do eat shellfish, cook it until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 145°F. Canadian health officials’ approval of the NHL’s return-to-play proposal has led the league to consider designating one or more cities north of the border to serve as hubs for its 24-team playoff format. The approval comes as the NHL has entered the advanced stages of selecting its hub cities, which include three located in Canada.
