SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A serial flasher who exposed himself to seven women near University of California San Diego was sentenced Thursday, according to City Attorney Mara Elliott. Nicholas Saienni, 34, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and received a sentence of 180 days of custody, three years of probation, a waiver of his Fourth Amendment search and seizure rights, and court fines and fees. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and get counseling. If he violates his probation, he could face an additional year and a half in jail, according to prosecutors. San Diego Police arrested Saienni after eight separate incidents between January and March 2019. Prosecutors said Saienni exposed himself to the women while dressed as a jogger and wearing a hooded sweatshirt to conceal his identity. Saienni confessed to the indecent exposure and admitted he had been convicted of similar acts in Delaware in 2018, Elliott reported. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — After a week of sifting through ashes of the devastating Camp Fire in Northern California, San Diego firefighters are back home tonight. The San Diego Urban Search and Rescue Task Force searched over 1,500 burned structures in the city of Paradise, Calif. Battalion Chief David Gerboth says many did not survive the devastation. Crews were ordered to look for 1- to 5-inch bone fragments of those who might be missing. “We went into a career to save people and we knew going up there that that wasn’t the mission. It was to provide closure for some families,” says Gerboth. The air quality was also a big challenge for firefighters.“There’s a lot of ash, there's a lot of debris. We were constantly wearing respiratory protection," he added.The task force was also away from their loved ones on Thanksgiving. Firefighters say this mission hit home for many of them.“It was definitely a challenge for all of us,” said Brady Holden. “Whatever little problems that you would deal with throughout the day, as you were driving back to the base camp you look around at the devastation, it really put it all into perspective that my problems really aren’t that bad.”The task force had to report all of the structures as clear before leaving. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- All evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted following a brush fire that erupted in San Diego's Talmadge neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. The fire started after 1 p.m. on Fairmont Avenue and Aldine Drive near Central Elementary School. The fire could be seen burning up a canyon in the area as smoke billowed into nearby neighborhoods. At times, flames came within 200 feet of homes. Evacuations were briefly ordered for Norma Drive, Constance Drive and Natalie Drive. The Hoover High School football field had been set up as a temporary shelter.RELATED: Check today's forecastThe fire also knocked out power to thousands in the area, but electricity was restored around 5 p.m. The fire sparked amid elevated fire weather concerns. Gusty offshore winds are expected in the mountains and foothills through Wednesday with afternoon humidity between 15 and 25 percent. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A South Bay high school was placed on lockdown while police searched a vehicle outside the campus.San Diego Police placed Southwest High School under lockdown while officers searched a vehicle they stopped on Hollister Street, just outside campus.Police said the traffic stop was a result of someone reporting they saw a gun. The suspected vehicle was located and pulled over.Southwest High was placed on lockdown as a precaution and police said the campus wasn't being threatened - the traffic stop just happened to occur outside the school property.Police found a BB gun inside the vehicle. No shots were fired and no one was injured.The lockdown was later lifted.Police said they encourage anyone who thinks they see a weapon to report it to authorities. 799
