(AP) — California lawmakers are considering proposals that would make the state the first in the nation to offer government-funded health care to adult immigrants living in the country illegally.Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has proposed covering immigrants 19 to 25.A proposal in the state Senate would expand that coverage to include people 65 and older, while the Assembly is considering a bill that would extend benefits to all low-income immigrants 19 and older.California already covers immigrants 18 and younger regardless of their status.A final decision on wider coverage may come down to cost.Newsom estimates his plan covering young adults would cost million a year. RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Video shows the moment shots were fired during a shootout in Riverside that killed one CHP officer and left two more hospitalized. The video appears to be filmed by a woman pulled over onto the side of the road near the 215 freeway, where the shooting took place. Three officers were shot and one died as a result of the shooting. The suspect was also killed in the shootout. Russian President Vladimir Putin boasted Thursday of new weaponry that will render NATO defenses "completely useless" -- and delivered a warning to the world about Russia's resurgent military might.In an annual address to the Russian parliament, the Kremlin leader said Russia had developed a new, nuclear-capable cruise missile with "unlimited" range that is capable of eluding air-defense systems.He also said Russia had developed an "invincible" missile that can deliver a warhead at hypersonic speed.Putin is running for reelection in mid-March on a platform that emphasizes his strength as a leader. Right now, dozens of train cars carrying 10 million pounds of poop are stranded in a rural Alabama rail yard. Technically it's biowaste, but to the 982 residents in the small town of Parrish, that's just semantics.They want it gone. The load has been there for almost two months, and it's making the whole place smell like a rotting animal carcass.To add insult to injury, it isn't even their poop. For the last year, waste management facilities in New York and one in New Jersey have been shipping tons of biowaste -- literally, tons -- to Big Sky Environmental, a private landfill in Adamsville, Alabama. But in January, the neighboring town of West Jefferson filed an injunction against Big Sky to keep the sludge from being stored in a nearby rail yard.It was successful -- but as a result, the poo already in transit got moved to Parrish,?where there are no zoning laws to prevent the waste from being stored. 937
