SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Local and federal authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding a father suspected of abducting his two children and fleeing to Mexico.Authorities said on Jan. 12, 2019, Foong Lian Chin’s ex-wife dropped off their two sons, with the understanding that he would return them to her on the following day.However, when Chin did not return the kids, the ex-wife “called law enforcement to check Chin’s address” but “there was no answer at his house.” Law enforcement also tried to reach Chin by phone but could not get a hold of him.On Jan. 16, 2019, a court gave Chin’s ex-wife full custody of the couple’s children and an arrest warrant was issued for Chin. Authorities said the million warrant is for parental child abduction.According to authorities, investigators learned Chin took his sons -- 8-year-old Huaiyu Chin and 7-year-old Binyu Chin -- to Mexico.Chin, who immigrated to the U.S. from Singapore in the 1980s, has lived in New York, Southern California, and Baja California.Chin and his sons were believed to have last been spotted in Tijuana, Mexico.Chin is Asian, 47 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Katie Malone's birthday celebration in Mexico turned into a nightmare after a horrifying parasailing accident in Mexico.The San Diegan is still recovering after a rope disconnected from the boat she was on. Katie was blown around for 45 minutes in the air before falling hundreds of feet to the ground.Katie did not have medical trip insurance, while she was abroad her condition worsened. Donations helped pay for treatment and an emergency life flight from Mexico to San Diego.She's not alone. They paid off ,000 in debt and saved ,000 for the down payment.“It’s actually like adjusting in terms of watching television, and they had like the Disney Channel on, and we had to take turns so I could watch the news,” said Jennifer’s father.According to Hot Pads, it takes 28 years for a San Diego renter to save enough to put down 20 percent on a median-priced home. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Memorial Day Weekend DUI arrests are down in San Diego County compared to last year, according to California Highway Patrol. In San Diego County, 42 people were arrested between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Sunday. By this time on Memorial Day Weekend in 2018, 57 people were arrested. One person died this weekend in San Diego County due to a DUI crash, tying it with last year. Statewide, 741 people have so far been arrested for driving under the influence. By this time last year, 674 people were arrested for DUI. So far this weekend, DUI-related crashes have claimed 18 lives throughout the state compared with 14 by this time last year. 668
