Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie issued a statement Friday saying he has asked not to be considered for the White House chief of staff job after meeting with President Donald Trump to discuss the role.Christie met with Trump on Thursday, but two sources familiar with the discussion said no offer had been made."It's an honor to have the President consider me as he looks to choose a new White House chief of staff. However, I've told the President that now is not the right time for me or my family to undertake this serious assignment," Christie said in a statement obtained by CNN but first reported by The New York Times."As a result, I have asked him to no longer to keep me in any of his considerations for this post," Christie added.The former governor was just the latest in a long string of people to discuss the chief of staff position with Trump.Earlier this week, one source close to the White House said that Christie was under consideration for the role. Christie's experience as a prosecutor is seen as a plus given the Mueller investigation and Democrats itching to investigate on the Hill.CNN has previously reported Christie has said he only wanted the role of attorney general and told friends he was offered the Department of Homeland Security secretary position, but did not want it. While chief of staff is not a Cabinet-level position, but it is the top staff role at the White House.There continues to be tension between Christie and the President's son-in-law and key adviser, Jared Kushner. As US Attorney in 2004, Christie prosecuted Kushner's father, Charles Kushner, for tax evasion, witness tampering and illegal campaign contributions. Charles Kushner pleaded guilty and served two years in prison.If Christie is selected, Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, would both report directly to Christie under the existing staff structure.Though on the surface Christie and Kushner have a cordial working relationship, Trump understood that the notion of his son-in-law being OK with reporting to the man who put his father in jail is unlikely. Multiple sources say the Trump children will have the most influence on this decision.Earlier this year, Christie suggested that Trump's family working in the White House was an impediment to his presidency."The situation is made much worse by the fact that we have family members in the White House," Christie said on ABC's "This Week" in March. Former Vice President Joe Biden came out ahead in Thursday's duel of town halls with President Donald Trump — at least in terms of TV ratings.According to The Associated Press, Biden garnered 14.1 million viewers on ABC between 8 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET on Thursday night. During that same time span, Trump drew a total of 13.5 million viewers during his hour-long event on NBC. These numbers include ratings for both network and cable audiences, who could have watched the president's event on CNBC or MSNBC. Biden's event was only broadcast on ABC on TV. Trump and Biden were originally slated to appear together for a town hall-style debate. However, the Commission on Presidential Debates said earlier this month that the event would take place virtually following Trump's COVID-19 diagnosis. Trump then dropped out, saying he wouldn't "waste his time" with a virtual debate.Biden then scheduled his town hall event with ABC News. (WFTX)  -- A Florida woman got creative with spare spray paint and plywood and made a sign to get the power company's attention.“I thought that all of my neighbors would get a huge kick out of it,” said Kynse Agles.She posed for a photo next to her pink sign that reads, “Hot single female seeks sexy lineman to electrify her life.”Just days before she posted the sign outside her Fort Myers home, Agles went under the knife for a kidney transplant. “My hurricane story started with a double organ transplant at Tampa General Hospital,” she said.Agles had to stay in air conditioning in order to avoid complications from her procedure. “I found a place to stay that had electricity and have been jumping from bed to couch,” she said.Then a light bulb went off in her head.“I saw a post on Facebook and I thought it was really funny and I can do it better,” she said. “I just thought maybe if a lineman got to my neighborhood they’ll laugh and hook me up first,” she added.Her sign did catch the attention of linemen. For students at Jackson Memorial Middle School in Ohio, Tuesday wasn't a normal day. When a seventh-grade student pulled out a gun and shot himself, students began to panic.  Airyonna Haggerty, who is a sixth grader at the school, described the moment teachers told her to get inside the classroom.The 12-year-old heard teachers screaming to get inside the classroom and the next thing she knew, she was hiding and crouching down with her fellow peers near the teacher's desk."I dropped everything. My phone, my chrome book, my book bag and me and my friends ran into the classroom and then we all hid. We were probably there for about 20 minutes," said Haggerty.The principal of the school knocked on the classroom door and told the students and teacher that everyone had to go to another class."We started gathering our stuff and went into the hallway. Then we went to go open the door and it was locked," said Haggerty.
