A 6th-grade student at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School in Martin County, Florida has been charged with a misdemeanor after he simulated a shooting, pretending to have a semi-automatic weapon.The Martin County Sheriff's Office said students told teachers that the 6th-grade student allegedly said he had a gun for protection. A school resource officer searched the student and his backpack and did not find a weapon. The child was allowed back to class, but a deputy said, in class, the student put his hands up as if he was firing a semi-automatic weapon and began to make pop noises. The Martin County Sheriff's Office was called out to the school and the student was arrested for disrupting a school function. He is charged with a misdemeanor. No weapon was found. Parents were notified that there was an incident."It was very unnerving and disturbing and once again it's the kids that are suffering and it freaked me out after dropping off my son today, giving him a kiss and knowing how the other parents feel about yesterday and that the kids aren't here. Actor Mark Wahlberg said on Tuesday that he would consider buying a professional soccer team in Ohio whose current owner is attempting to relocate the team to Texas. The Columbus Crew SC is planning to move to Austin, Texas after its owner, Anthony Precourt, successfully lobbied Austin City Council on Wednesday for a land deal with the city. But a lawsuit in Ohio could complicate Precourt's move, and potentially could force Precourt to sell the franchise to an owner who intends to keep the team in Ohio.A law was hatched two decades ago after Art Modell infamously moved the Cleveland Browns to Baltimore. Ohio has a law that stipulates teams that receive local or state government support must give an opportunity to sell the team to local owners before relocating. One caveat is the law has never been tested, and would likely go through extensive appeals if successful. While Wahlberg is not from Ohio, he recently purchased a Chevrolet dealership in Columbus, which gained a few laughs on CBS' "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Tuesday.Before opting to buy the Crew SC, Wahlberg said he would need to consult his friend Robert Kraft, who owns the New England Revolution of the MLS. After dipping below a million new claims a week for the first time since March, jobless claims are back up above that mark.The U.S. Department of Labor just reported at least 1.1 million people filed new jobless claims last week, while there were another 14.8 million continuing claims.For all those on unemployment, what is not back is the 0 pandemic unemployment assistance. Instead, President Trump signed an executive order for Lost Wage Assistance, while Congress is still in a stalemate over a new stimulus package.Until the president’s order kicks in, after states apply for the help and get approved, everyone on unemployment is being forced to live off their respective state's normal unemployment benefit. In many states, the average benefit payout is meager, at best.“The national average for unemployment dropped from nearly 0 a week to just 8 a week in June of this year, because so many low wage workers were losing their jobs,” said Andrew Stettner, a senior fellow at The Century Foundation.Stettner has been heavily researching and analyzing unemployment benefits with the New York and D.C.-based independent think tank. Part of his research and analysis shows low-wage workers could be getting far less than that average state weekly benefit. For example, in a state like Hawaii, some low wage workers could be getting the state’s minimum payout of just a week right now. In other states like Louisiana, Connecticut, North Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Delaware, minimums aren’t much higher, ranging between to per week.“All but nine states have minimum benefits below 0 per week,” Stettner added.Understanding states’ minimums and how little some workers could now be getting per week is important because it will impact their eligibility for the president’s executive order.“If you don’t get more than 0 in unemployment benefits a week from the state, you can’t get Trump's new Lost Wage Assistance,” explained Stettner.Lost Wage Assistance is an additional 0 a week from the federal government for those on unemployment and is supposed to be available until Dec. 27, 2020. Essentially, right now, it is the only stopgap in place to help those unemployed, but it won’t help those who may need help the most. That’s why many are urging Congress to quickly come to an agreement on the next stimulus bill that helps everyone struggling.“I think there is the will to continue federal unemployment employment benefits, Trump’s executive order. Trump’s executive order promises them through December 27, but there is not enough money to fulfill that promise. (KGTV) - The movie set ranch featured in the HBO television series “Westworld” and almost 500 other productions was destroyed in the Woolsey Fire, Santa Monica Mountains park rangers tweeted Friday.The piece of Hollywood history, known as “Western Town” at Paramount Ranch, was located in Agoura. With its rolling hills and canyons, it was used to create an Old West look for film and television shoots.Paramount Studios bought the 2,700 acre ranch in the golden era of Hollywood. According to the National Park Service, the permanent Western Town was built in the 1950s and posed as Tombstone, Arizona, and Dodge City, Kansas.In addition to “Westworld”, the set also served as the home of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and episodes of Gunsmoke. After two and a half weeks of historic destruction, the Camp Fire in Northern California is 100% contained, but the search for remains threatens to push the death toll over 85, where it stood early Sunday.It's already the state's deadliest fire.Officials found two bodies in Paradise and another in Magalia, both of which sit just west of the Plumas National Forest, roughly 100 miles north of Sacramento.Since it began November 8, the fire has destroyed almost 14,000 homes, 514 businesses and 4,265 other buildings. It has covered more than 153,000 acres, roughly the size of Chicago.Cal Fire, the state's forestry and fire protection agency, announced the fire was completely contained early Sunday. As of Saturday evening, the uncontained portion of the fire was along steep terrain unsafe for firefighters due to recent heavy rains, the agency said.More than 2,500 people are now accounted for, according to the Butte County Sheriff's Office. While 251 people remain missing, the sheriff's office says, that number is down from more than 1,000 just a few days ago.The sheriff's office is maintaining a public list of missing people and offering to swab the cheeks of immediate relatives in hopes of identifying those lost in the fire. 1247
