SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A previously-deported sex offender who tried to enter the U.S. illegally was arrested Sunday by Border Patrol agents. On July 5 around 1:30 a.m., agents patrolling the U.S./Mexico border near Tecate saw three people enter the U.S. illegally, the agency said. All three men were arrested and, after fingerprinting all three, a records check revealed that one of the men, a 33-year-old Mexican national, had been convicted for sex crimes against a child.According to the agency, the man had been convicted in 2006 of lewd acts upon a child and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was removed from the U.S. in 2014.The man is currently being held in federal custody pending charges for felony illegal re-entry after deportation, Border Patrol says. 771

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A plan to essentially force 16 Lemon Grove teachers to resign was approved Tuesday night in a 3-2 vote. The Lemon Grove School District informed the teachers that it would move in a different direction at the end of this school year. The teachers were at the district for two years, the end of their probationary period. Any more time and they would become permanent. The district says it will replace those positions with new teachers for next year. "Our governing board believes that each child deserves the very best," the district said in a statement. "We will continue to provide that to you in Lemon Grove School District.""Why aren't we maintaining the teachers that have been here and have built relationships with our children? Built relationships with our parents? With our community," parent Rosa Carney said. Angela Vento, who has four children in the district, said her 9-year-old son Joshua was upset when he found out his teacher would be let go."She's always there for him," Vento said. "He has epilepsy and she helps him through that."Two teachers who asked to remain anonymous said the district gave them a choice of resigning, or being terminated with a non-renewal status. That status, the teachers said, is essentially a career killer. One teacher said all but one chose to resign. 1330

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A group of activists are upset after the San Diego Police Department rescheduled a Black History Month celebration for the department's current and former black police officers. The department's celebration was scheduled to take place Saturday, February 24th, but was canceled just days before. The group says a committee of officers was appointed to plan the event in January. They think the cancellation was politically motivated. Monica Montgomery spoke during a brief press conference on Monday at the Civic Center Plaza. She thinks the decision to reschedule the event was made after the keynote speaker was announced. The speaker was supposed to be Geneviéve Jones-Wright, the candidate for San Diego district attorney. She's running against interim D.A., Summer Stephan. The police department told 10News the event was rescheduled due to planning conflicts. Lt. Scott Wahl said they plan on notifying officers when a new date is set. The D.A. sent 10News the following statement: "District Attorney Summer was not involved in the planning or the rescheduling of this event." 1143

That day would never come either."I dislocated my shoulder, so I totally dislocated my arm, tore my labrum," Wolf said. The International Olympic Committee voted to add Wolf's weight class to the 2020 games as she rehabed her shoulder injury. So just like that, it was back to the training room, but in this case time was a factor."Thank goodness, because it I would've fought professionally in MMA I would not have been able to try out for the Olympic games," Wolf said. "It wasn't fast for learning a whole new sport like MMA, but for the three years to pass for the Olympic trials right around the corner, it came fast."RELATED: Vista skatepark draws 2020 Olympic hopefulsAnd Wolf was ready, earning a spot when it came time to focus back to boxing."Had four fights, and I got all the wins to win round one of the Olympic trials and to qualify me for the Olympic finals," Wolf said. Now comes the qualifying finals, which Wolf will compete in this December."I think I'm the experienced fighter, mentally, physically. I think I'm going to have the advantage in all aspects of the game," Wolf said. 1537
