(KGTV) — Southbound lanes of Interstate 405 in Westchester were shut down on a busy Friday afternoon following a police pursuit.Six lanes of traffic built up for miles behind the closure just after Braddock Dr., after a police pursuit ended with seven home invasion suspects taken into custody, according to KABC.Los Angeles Police stopped a white SUV on I-405, forcing each suspect to exit and lay down on the freeway before they were arrested, helicopter footage from the scene showed.Traffic was opened back up just before 3:45 p.m. Even after lanes were reopened, heavy Friday traffic blanketed the southbound side of the freeway.Footage of the standstill below: 675

A 64-year-old Painesville Township, Ohio resident was hailed as a hero after authorities say he stopped a man who chased a mother and her two children from their home after he allegedly broke in.Police said the resident, Thomas Jones, opened his door after he heard his neighbor pounding on it and yelling for help.According to authorities, Jones' neighbor and her two children had just run from their house after a 30-year-old man allegedly forced his way into their home through the back door. The suspect chased the woman into her bedroom and then laid down on the floor claiming someone was trying to kill him, police said.The woman was able to escape the bedroom and run from the residence with her 5 and 7-year-old children and call 911.Listen to the 911 call below. Warning: The call contains graphic language.A short time later, the suspect came across the street and onto the porch in an attempt to gain entry to the house where the woman and her children took shelter.Jones and the suspect fought until deputies arrived, at which time the 30-year-old was taken into custody.The suspect was identified as Bobby Collier, of East Jackson Street, Painesville.Police said Collier had an active warrant out for a parole violation. It also appeared that he was under the influence of an unknown drug.Collier was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, assault, criminal damaging, and aggravated trespass.Jones later told the sheriff's department, he "only did what anyone would do."The sheriff's department said they "commend Thomas Jones for his selfless act and thank him for his outstanding efforts." 1643

(KGTV) - San Diego County leaders say a massive church gathering on the sand at Cardiff State Beach Sunday violated the health mandate to prevent the spread of COVID-19.The event featured music, prayer, and people getting baptized in the ocean.Alisha Goodman is the mom of two teenagers. She also ministers to three other teens from broken homes. They all went to the event together."It turned out to be way more than I would have ever imagined, or expected it to be. I think everyone has just been so suppressed for the past few months. It was an opportunity for us to get out and worship and be together and feel that presence of God that we haven't really had an opportunity to do," said Goodman.Pictures on social media captured huge crowds with little social distancing and not a lot of people wearing face coverings.Goodman says she felt safe."I think everybody was being fair with each other and social distancing within their immediate families and friends group, but there was some hugging and people who hadn't seen each other in a long time, they haven't seen each other in 4 months," said Goodman.The event was organized by Sean Feucht. He's a member of Bethel Church in Redding, but the church was not involved with Sunday's gathering. He's held similar events across the country.10News tried reaching Feucht through his social media accounts, but we did not get a response.In response to media inquiries after the event in Redding, he issued a statement on his Facebook page saying in part, "Government leaders voiced support for outdoor protests in recent months, they should not be condemning Christians seeking to gather in worship. She was shocked at the size of the crowd and the lack of social distancing."We're working really hard, to keep employees safe and to keep businesses open. It's mind blowing to me that people outside our community would come in, not respecting rules that we as business owners have to abide by, and if we can't keep our businesses open, we can't keep people employed," said Wheeler.The organizer posted on Twitter that nearly 5,000 people attended.A spokesman with the State Parks sent 10News the following statement."An unpermitted event took place yesterday at Cardiff State Beach. Staff monitored the situation and were on-site to protect public safety. Citations were given for illegal parking."San Diego County's public health officer addressed the concerns at the county's update Monday afternoon.
