SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 4.7 earthquake struck the Central California city of Gonzales Monday.The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake at 11:31 a.m., 22 kilometers northeast of the city in Monterey County.The quake was 6.2 km deep. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A bluff that overlooks Beacon’s Beach in Encinitas is on the brink of collapsing, which could mean changes for the walking trail that leads visitors down to the beach. The City of Encinitas says the bluff is at risk. There is a low-lying failure and the bluff could fall, taking the walking trail with it.“We’ve been told by our experts that there is a chance that the slide could happen at any time,”says Brenda Wisneski, Developmental Services Director for the City of Encinitas. Visitors at Beacon’s Beach say they feel the walking trail makes the beach different from others. “It’s one of my favorite beaches in all of San Diego. A part of that is because of the access, this trail is highly unique and it's not stairs,” says Mark Tayer. The city has a proposal to add a staircase south of the entry to the trail.“That is the most safe, the most secure. It requires a minimal amount of stability at the base of it,” says Wisneski.Wisneski says the city also has plans to move the parking lot back from the failure area. This could mean fewer parking spaces for visitors. The city hopes to begin construction in the fall of 2019. The proposal will go to the planning commission next. The trail will stay there until it poses a safety issue to visitors. On Wednesday, the City of Encinitas will have an open house where members of the community can voice their concerns. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- UC San Diego denounced an Instagram account claiming an affiliation with the university that posted "hateful, racist content" on its page, while a similar investigation was underway at the University of San Diego.On Sunday night, UCSD officials were made aware of the page, which featured several racist posts and represented a connection with the university."We firmly denounce what was shared on this account," the school wrote in a Monday afternoon Twitter statement, "and condemn all forms of racism and hate."UCSD said similar posts were seen on another account, which apparently claimed affiliations with a different university.RELATED: USD investigating white supremacist Instagram accounts that claim ties to schoolThough the other university was not identified in UCSD's statement, the University of San Diego posted a statement last weekend indicating the school was aware "that abhorrent and hateful Instagram accounts, claiming ties to USD, have been used to post white supremacy propaganda."In a statement, USD said the content of the accounts "tears at the very fabric of who we are as a Catholic university and the values we hold dear."The school says it has initiated an investigation into the posts and asked Instagram to take the pages down, along with any other affiliated accounts.USD officials said anyone with information regarding the accounts' creator should contact Dr. Donald Goodwin at deanofstudents@sandiego.edu."Hate speech and actions directed at intimidating or harassing any members of our campus community have no place at USD and cannot be tolerated," the school said.UCSD says its Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination -- which provides assistance to students, faculty and staff regarding reports of bias, harassment and discrimination -- is working with the school's chief information security officer to investigate the account.Anyone with information regarding the account's creator was asked to contact the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination at OPHD@ucsd.edu."If found that UC San Diego community members are involved, they will be held accountable," the statement said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) — Two men who were allegedly running an illegal hash oil lab inside a Lemon Grove warehouse were charged by federal prosecutors Friday.Adam Ledesma and Jared Hoffman are charged with manufacturing around 166 kilograms of hash oil inside the building raided by Drug Enforcement Administration agents on Thursday.The hash oil, valued at more than .75 million, was seized along with ``sophisticated laboratory equipment'' valued at more than million, according to the DEA.In the criminal complaint filed Friday, DEA Special Agent James Gillis wrote that DEA agents regularly surveilled the building over the past month, and observed Ledesma and Hoffman regularly entering the building.There were ``no visible indications of commercial or manufacturing operations operating out of the building,'' according to Gillis, who said that on May 14, he found a number of paint buckets, stainless steel pots and other items he alleged were consistent with manufacturing cannabis inside two dumpsters in the building's loading dock. The building's electricity bills dating back to last May were also ``excessive and consistent with the amount of electricity required to operate equipment commonly used for concentrated cannabis extraction and/or indoor marijuana cultivation.''Search warrants were served Thursday for the premises, which has no license for marijuana cultivation from either the state or San Diego County, according to the DEA.Authorities said it was the sixth hash oil lab in San Diego County dismantled by federal authorities within the past three weeks. Explosions at two of those labs sent four people to hospitals with serious burns, the DEA said.The agency alleged that the Lemon Grove lab was in particular danger of an explosion or fire, due to high combustible gas readings at the premises, as well as a large amount of ethanol found at the lab. 1886

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 79-year-old woman struck while crossing a Mira Mesa intersection is expected to recover from her injuries, San Diego Police said Monday. The woman was walking north in the crosswalk of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Black Mountain Road about 5 a.m. when she was struck by a male driver, police said. Officers reported the woman suffered a fractured pelvis, open fracture to the right tibia, and head injuries. She was taken to the hospital. The crash shattered the driver’s windshield. He was not hurt. Traffic backed up for several hours during the morning commute for the investigation. Police have not yet determined who was at fault. 659
