What makes her unique is her mother.Jini, the panda mother, gave birth to the female cuba at the age of 17. She is compared to a human in her sixties, the Wolong Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Sichuan Province said in a statement.The female cub weighed 125 grams. She was born at 14:41 p.m., four hours after Jini went into labour. Both the mother and cub are in good health, said the statement.Jini, a resident of Beijing Zoo, was sent to the Wolong center this March for the cub-birth purpose because the research center has developed expertise in breeding techniques.With a 20-year breeding history, the Wolong Giant Panda Protection and Research Center is home to the world's largest captive panda population. It has helped Beijing Zoo and Chongqing Zoo and many zoos in other countries in breeding and feeding pandas.The new cub is Jini's second. It is the eleventh cub born at the Wolong center this year."Pandas come into heat in the spring and give birth in autumn. BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tropical storm "Dianmu" along with gusty winds will strengthen precipitation in north China as it moves north, the national meteorological agency warned on Monday.The typhoon, started Sunday night in the sea about 400 kilometers east of Taiwan, is expected to complicate flood-control efforts in northeast China, where torrential rain-triggered floods have left more than 100 people dead and missing.Heavy rains will hit parts of northeast China's Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces on Tuesday. Northwest China's Gansu and Shaanxi provinces will also be affected, said the National Meteorological Center.The typhoon, the fourth this year, was moving northeast at a speed of 25 km per hour. Its center was located about 390 km east of Zhejiang Province's coast Monday afternoon and will approach southern coast of the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday, said the center.

BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Donations to the Yushu quake zone in northwest China's Qinghai Province have exceeded 8.7 billion yuan (about 1.28 billion U.S. dollars) as of Monday noon, with about 7.9 billion yuan in cash and the remaining in relief materials, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.In a statement, the ministry said it had received 2.417 billion yuan and the Qinghai provincial government received over 2 billion yuan in donations, while the Red Cross Society of China and the China Charity Federation had each raised about 2 billion yuan.Nearly 2,700 people died after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Qinghai's Yushu prefecture on April 14.
