SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A sailboat and power boat collided near the Coronado Bridge Sunday afternoon, injuring four people, according to San Diego Harbor Police.A good Samaritan drove by and noticed people floating in life jackets as their boat took on water. He picked up nine people and ferried them to Pepper Park. "It's just what you do you're a boater, it's what you're supposed to do, you help out on the water, people have helped us and we've helped other people," Kary Brownlee said.The damaged powerboat, a Bayliner, was towed back to the Pepper Park launch ramp where four passengers were evaluated for minor injuries. No one was taken to the hospital.The sailboat cruised back to Coronado on its own power."All it takes is a split second, when the captain is not paying attention that could cause a collision," boat safety advocate Amos Zolna said. He explained sail boats generally have the right of way, as they are harder to maneuver, compared to a power boat. Zolna said it's hard to navigate near the bridge, due to the large pillars that create blind spots.Harbor Police reported the 911 call at 1:28 p.m. They are investigating the cause of the crash and if any alcohol was involved. 1204

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego county father is speaking out about his family's close call caught on video during an off-road race down in Baja, but the driver behind the wheel says it's not what it looks like. Earlier in April, Matt Scarpuzzi of Alpine and hundreds of other drivers were participating in the "San Felipe 250" when he says another driver deliberately drove through a group of spectators, including his wife and two young children. In this type of racing drivers can deviate from the set course as long as they make it to the checkpoints, so technically it wasn't against the rules."I couldn't believe that was the best decision, in my opinion, it jeopardizes the fan safety and it jeopardizes a sport that I love," said Scarpuzzi.The man behind the wheel, B-J Baldwin, spoke to 10News and said it looks worse than it actually was.  "I had 100 percent visibility, I knew where everybody was at, knew everybody was safe. Again I was only going about 2 miles an hour when I drove through these tents," Baldwin said. He posted the video on his Facebook page and offered to replace anything he damaged. "I assured everybody that no one was in danger and I was very very careful when trying to re-enter the course and access the course," said Baldwin.  1317

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died Saturday night after deputies say he was attacked by a group of people while crossing the street in Vista. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the attack happened at 10 p.m. at the intersection of West Vista Way and Valencia Drive. Witnesses say the man was at the intersection when he was attacked by three men and a woman all in their 20s. RELATED: Man arrested after driving into crowd outside Encinitas barAfter falling to the ground, the victim was able to crawl onto the sidewalk before collapsing. He later died after being taken to the hospital. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate any of the suspects. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego hairstylist is suing Governor Gavin Newsom over closures of indoor salons. It comes even after a revised order that allows them to operate outside.Amy Mullins-Boychack doesn’t take just any client.“They might have to pace for 15 minutes before they can regulate their anxiety to get a hair cut,” she said.She’s been cutting hair for children with special needs at her salon “THAIRapy” for eight years. Under restrictions from the state, salons are only allowed to operate outdoors.She says that’s not an option with her clients.“I have clients that don’t have impulse control,” said Mullins-Boychack. “They don’t have the ability to just sit anywhere and get a hair cut.”So she joined a lawsuit filed against the governor in March. The plaintiff, JD Bols, is a landlord to several churches and beauty salons in San Diego.The lawsuit also names Mayor Kevin Faulconer, Sheriff Bill Gore, and the County Board of Supervisors as defendants. It claims the pandemic-related restrictions violate civil rights and have financially crippled businesses deemed non-essential.“This isn’t about vanity," says Mullins-Boychack. “This is a life skill for them, this is routine, this is repetition, this is part of their livelihood, part of their social skills.”In addition to the lawsuit, she’s working to get an exemption from the governor to continue her business indoors. 1398

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who led police on pursuit was arrested early Monday morning after spending 45 minutes on the roof of a Webster home.San Diego police officers attempted to stop a dark colored Kia shortly before 12:30 a.m. on 49th and Federal Blvd. after the driver was seen driving recklessly.The driver crashed into an embankment and pole on Marilou Road, and that's when police said the suspect jumped out and took off running.Police chased the man for several blocks, even jumping fences and running through backyards. The suspect then climb on top of a home, leaping across rooftops trying to get away, but was surrounded.The suspect sat on the rooftop on Brookline street and told officers he would not come down until they put their guns down.The suspect eventually surrendered 45 minutes later. Firefighters were called in to put a ladder up and help get him down.He's being evaluated for DUI and faces felony evading charges. 950
