More than 20 states have set records in daily reported cases of COVID-19 in recent days, prompting concern that another surge in deaths and hospitalizations linked to the virus could be on the way.According to information from Johns Hopkins University, 22 states across the country — particularly in the Upper Midwest or Great Plains region — are seeing record increases in new COVID-19 cases. Among the states seeing the most dramatic spikes are Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.The cases in the upper Midwest may have been fueled by the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which took place in South Dakota between Aug. 7 and Aug. 16. At least one report has estimated that the rally may have led to the infection of more than 250,000 people.Since the day the rally began, the number of new cases in South Dakota has risen from about 90 a day to more than 700 a day, and deaths increased from about one a day to about 10 a day. It's an exponential rise that's been mirrored in North Dakota and surrounding states.The spike in cases in the Plains and the Midwest has fueled a new surge in case counts across the country. NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - Authorities are offering a ,000 reward for information that could help solve the murder of an 18-year-old man killed in National City three years ago Thursday. Juan Carlos Munoz Jr. was fatally shot on Oct. 11, 2015 after a gunman walked up to his vehicle, asked Munoz Jr. and his friend where they were from and fired five shots from a handgun into the vehicle. The attack, which killed Munoz Jr. and injured the 17-year-old passenger in the car, occurred around 7:50 p.m. near 16th Street and Prospect Avenue in National City.The shooter has been described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, with a heavy build and a shaved head. He was last seen driving east on 16th Street in a four-door Nissan Altima.The ,000 reward will go to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case. MoviePass, the struggling movie subscription service, will limit customers to three movies per month.The company is trying to burn less cash so it can stay in business.Under the previous plan, customers could see one movie per day in theaters. The change to three movies per month takes effect August 15. MoviePass says 85% of its customers already see no more than three per month.The company also announced Monday that it will keep the monthly subscription price at .99. Museums from coast to coast will have free admission on Saturday as part of Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Live. Art museums, science centers and other attractions are participating in Saturday's event, which was created to promote STEM programs. In order to take advantage of free admission at museums, tickets are available on Smithsonian Magazine's webpage. Tickets are limited to one person plus a guest per email address. Once you enter your name, email address and select the museum you wish to attend, your ticket will appear on the next screen and be emailed to you.
