BETHEL, Ohio — Love is in the air at a small local farm that focuses on selling quail eggs and other tasty farm creations like their bourbon-based caramel.Woodbottom Quail Farms even has a saying: "Loving the Farm and Farming the Love.""Maybe be able to give someone something they might not have been able to have as nice otherwise," said farm co-owner Tom Segrist.Segrist is an Army veteran, having served as a Scout from 1986 to 1990.He and his wife, who goes by "M," both decided early in 2020 to offer up something special."I posted on Facebook, and then it was just announced that we're doing the weddings, you know, it's all-inclusive, everything's free," M Segrist said.She said the response was incredible, with well over 100 couples writing their love story and submitting their application. The main qualifying point to receive the free, all-inclusive wedding inside their quaint farm barn: one person in the couple must be a military veteran."We collected new and gently used wedding dresses," M Segrist said. "There's a consignment shop offering bridesmaids dresses. There's full salon, mani-pedi, facials, seamstress, floral photography for engagement and the ceremony. There's tons of gifts."Those gifts have come from veteran-based businesses across the United States who wanted to make the six couples' big days even more special. Some wedding gifts came from as far away as Alaska and Hawaii.M Segrist said it was a challenge to whittle the stack of applicants down, but they chose each of the couples for specific reasons. She explains the reason for one of their choices."Jessica and David. They both have been married, they have kids, and then they come together later in life. And they're a very happy couple. It's like you can just look at them and see the love between them," she said.David Neiheisel was an Army Combat Engineer and surprised his girlfriend, Jessica Rieck, with the engagement ring last Thanksgiving. He had his daughter do the honor."I had my youngest, Sadie, actually hand her the ring," Neiheisel said. "She said, 'Here, Daddy got you something.'"Rieck said it was the last thing she expected."Well, my initial reaction was, I said, 'You put that back and go, go over there. I am not looking at that,'" Rieck said. "I looked at him, I said, 'I have to sit down for a minute.'"She eventually realized the next step for their blended families meant walking down the aisle again.After M posted about the free weddings for veterans, Jessica and David had several people give them a heads-up about the contest. After a couple of days they compiled their story and submitted it. Once they were contacted and told they were chosen as one of the couples, Jessica didn't believe it."We are those people that you never win anything, you never get picked," Rieck said. "And when we got notified — oh, this is real."M Segrist plans to officiate a number of the ceremonies herself.For Tom Segrist, it's a chance to help share what they have with others."Even if I'm not a part of their memory, they have the memory. BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Novak Djokovic has tested positive for the coronavirus after taking part in a tennis exhibition series he organized in Serbia and Croatia.The top-ranked Serb is the fourth player to test positive for the virus after first playing in Belgrade and then again last weekend in Zadar, Croatia. His wife also tested positive.The three other players to contract the virus are Viktor Troicki, Grigor Dimitrov, and Borna Coric, ESPN reports.Djokovic has been criticized for organizing the tournament and bringing in players from other countries amid the coronavirus pandemic. Big league players will still hear the roar of the crowd even though the stands will be empty when the baseball season opens next week.Taking a cue from two European soccer leagues, Major League Baseball will play crowd noise from its official video game through ballpark sound systems during games. Stadium sound engineers will have access to around 75 different effects and reactions, according to MLB, which has provided teams with crowd sounds captured from “MLB The Show.”San Diego Studios, a branch of Sony Interactive Entertainment, compiled the noise during games over several seasons.Clubs started using the sounds during summer camp games and will be able to test them further during exhibition games.“There was some reticence when you first talk about crowd noise in an empty ballpark because you don’t want to do something that is distracting,” said Chris Marinak, who is MLB’s Executive Vice President for strategy, technology, and innovation. “It is heard in a way that is natural with the play of the game and on field. The sounds do match what is happening.”England’s Premier League and Spain’s La Liga were the first to return to action with crowd sound from video games. The leagues enlisted EA Sports to provide crowd effects they engineered for the FIFA video game franchise. Marinak said MLB talked to multiple companies before deciding to go with Sony.Baseball is hoping the crowd noises, along with stadium announcers, walkup music and in-stadium video, will replicate the in-game experience as closely as possible without real fans in the stadium. Some ballparks are also offering fans the chance to buy photo cutouts which will be placed in the stands.Brewers infielder Eric Sogard said Thursday that the crowd noise did help step up the competition for some guys during intrasquad games.“You’re still focused on the game but that noise is very helpful. I could tell the first few scrimmages with pure silence was tough for some guys,” he said. “You could hear the other dugout talking and it was kind of awkward.”The sounds will also be audible on radio and television. The Korean baseball league pipes in crowd noise at stadiums so they are not completely silent but it is barely audible during games aired on ESPN.Some fans and broadcasters are leery of artificial crowd noise because it takes away a unique opportunity to hear players’ conversations during games this season. Alex Rodriguez noted during an ESPN conference call that the only time fans can hear that type of interaction is if they go to spring training workouts.ESPN announcer Matt Vasgersian is hopeful there still might be some sort of audio sweet spot to provide a little bit of everything.“I think it still allows us to capture some of that and still make the viewing experience feel right at home,” he said. “I can’t wait to hear what we hear. Brad Bufanda, an actor best known for his roles in TV shows including "Veronica Mars" and "Co-Ed Confidential," has died after apparently taking his own life.Bufanda apparently jumped from a building in Los Angeles on Wednesday and died of "traumatic injuries," according to Variety.On Friday, TMZ reported that the 34-year-old actor left a suicide note that thanked some of the people in his life and mentioned his parents.Bufanda's manager told Variety she was "completely devastated for he was an extremely talented young actor and wonderful, caring human being." She said he'd been "reviving his career" and had just finished shooting two movies.He appeared in 23 movies and TV shows since 1995, according to IMDB.
