EL CAJON (CNS) - A passenger in a vehicle was killed Sunday when its driver left the roadway in El Cajon and struck a light pole.The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the El Cajon Police Department reported.The driver allegedly was speeding westbound on Chase Avenue when the vehicle hit the pole near Wilson Avenue. Police and firefighters were dispatched at approximately 6:45 a.m. to the crash scene in the area of Chase and Wilson avenues.The driver was extracted from the vehicle, treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital, police said. (KGTV) - The San Diego Air & Space Museum will soon unveil the latest addition to its impressive collection, a rare plane that had long been owned by hotel mogul Barron Hilton.The plane is a Beech Aircraft "staggerwing" built in 1943. Museum President and CEO Jim Kidrick told 10News the plane is famous among aviation fans worldwide and that many famous pilots have flown inside. The stagger wing was considered one of the few high-end recreational and business planes of its time.Kidrick says the plane is just the latest exciting addition to be displayed at the Museum's popular Annex at Gillespie Field in El Cajon. "As a former Navy fighter pilot, there's nothing more exciting than being around aircraft, in general. It's cooler than cool. (KGTV) — El Cajon Police are warning residents of a recent string of street robberies that have occurred over the past several weeks.Police said the victims have been described as elderly men and have been physically assaulted from behind by a lone suspect. None of the victims report seeing a weapon, but have been robbed while walking on public sidewalks in the areas of the 1000 block of East Main Street and the 800 block of Buena Terrace.The suspect in each case varies, but has been described as either an African American, Hispanic, or Middle Eastern male within the ages of 20 to 40 years old. The suspects are also described as being between 5'6" to 6 feet tall and between 160 and 180 pounds.Police are unsure whether the crimes are related.Now, police are reminding residents to travel in groups and in well-lighted areas visible to others, especially during the holiday season, and to avoid carrying large amounts of cash.Anyone who has information is asked to call El Cajon Police Department at 619-579-3311 or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1090

EL CAJON (KGTV) -- Authorities are working to clear a fuel spill Sunday afternoon after a small plane crashed landed onto a quiet El Cajon neighborhoodThe plane crashed sometime around 2 p.m. at 2nd Street and El Rey in El Cajon.The pilot was en route to Gillispie Field, a little more than a mile from where it crashed.Authorities say two people were on board the aircraft but suffered no injuries.There was a small fuel leak following the crash and the plane knocked down some wires when it crash landed.  Police are asking the public to avoid the area until about 4 p.m. Sunday.This is a developing story.  Stay with 10News for updates. 687

EL CAJON (CNS) - A driver whose blood-alcohol content was nearly quadruple the legal limit slammed into the back of a pregnant woman's car in Ramona two years ago, killing the woman and her unborn child, a prosecutor told a jury Wednesday.But a defense attorney denied that his client caused the crash, claiming the prosecution's case was based entirely on circumstantial evidence and a shoddy police investigation.Andrew Milonis, 46, is accused in the Mother's Day 2017 crash that killed 29-year-old Jessica Foderingham and her unborn child, a girl who Foderingham and her husband planned to name Ayanna. The couple then left home for Jessica Foderingham's grandmother's house in Ramona, taking two cars -- Jessica in her Dodge Dart and Christian driving the boys in his Hyundai.He was driving ahead of his wife when he heard a loud bang behind him, saw a dark-colored SUV swerve onto a sidewalk and witnessed his wife's car slam into a tree. An off- duty firefighter helped Foderingham perform CPR until emergency personnel arrived and took her to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she died, according to the victim's husband.Milonis' attorney, Ward Clay, told jurors the crash was "a tragic accident" but said Milonis was not responsible."No one witnessed exactly how the accident happened," Clay said.The attorney said Christian Foderingham never got a good look at the SUV driver.Foderingham testified that the SUV had tinted windows and there might have been two people inside. He could only confirm that the driver was Caucasian.Clay claimed that at the time of the crash, Milonis was not near the crash scene.The attorney also said the California Highway Patrol "made major mistakes" in their investigation of the case, and that "critical, forensic evidence" had been lost or destroyed, though he did not specify what that evidence was.Clay said he expected the jury to be "angry and want to hold someone responsible.
