A 60,000-square-foot museum that will include a first-of-its-kind tribute to the 1980 U.S. Olympic team is scheduled to open July 30 in Colorado Springs after a three-year construction project. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum will feature 12 galleries that include exhibits on athlete training, the Summer and Winter Games, and the USOPC Hall of Fame. The 1980 Olympics, which were held in Moscow, were boycotted by the American Olympic team in protest due to the Soviet Union invading Afghanistan, according to ABC News.“The stories of our Olympians and Paralympians are the stories of this nation’s history,” Museum Chief Executive Officer Christopher Liedel said in a news release. “Every American can see themselves in the members of Team USA and will be inspired by their dedication, perseverance, and respect for the Olympic and Paralympic values. (KGTV) - The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City received information about a security threat in Playa del Carmen Wednesday, leading to a travel ban for U.S. government employees.Embassy officials did not release details about the threat in the Yucatan resort town, south of Cancun. The report comes just as schools and universities prepare for spring break.The U.S. Consular Agency in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo was closed until further notice.The overall State Department travel warning for non-government American citizens did not change. (KGTV) -  The safety driver behind the wheel of an autonomous Uber vehicle that struck and killed a woman in Arizona is a convicted felon, according to ABC affiliate KABC.The driver, identified as 44-year-old Rafael Vasquez, was in the self-driving car when it fatally hit 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg as she crossed an unlit Tempe, Ariz., roadway outside of a crosswalk with her bicycle.Court documents showed someone with the same name and birthdate served more than four years for two felony convictions: One for making false statement when obtaining unemployment benefits and the other for armed robbery, according to KABC.RELATED: Police release video after Uber self-driving car hits, kills womanWhile the crash has raised concerns over Uber's driver screening policy, the company states "everyone deserves a fair chance" in regards to employing those with a criminal record.Uber said Vasquez met the company's hiring requirements, KABC reported. (KGTV) - The Navy is taking action to assess living conditions in military housing amid complaints of rodents, mold, and water damage. Families have shared stories about housing problems with 10News over several weeks. The Navy sent a survey Monday to received feedback on the situation. Erika Bradley, a Navy wife and mother, said she arrived at MCAS Miramar last June to find mice and mold in her new home. “When my husband calls and he's in a war zone, do you think I am going to complain about mold? ‘Hey babe, we have rats where our children eat,” Bradley said. “I don't want him to worry about that because if his mind isn't focused where it needs to be, that's peoples lives.” Lawmakers are trying to push a bill through Congress that would give military families power to withhold rent from landlords. More than 700,000 people live in privatized housing across military bases. Bradley is hoping the military will put more pressure on private companies, holding them accountable.
