He added that his role at the border was an "observer" to ensure the migrants are being processed fairly and appropriately.He said those in the caravan understand they could end up in a detention facility, and they're okay with it, "Yes because they’re they’re escaping what they feel is death and escaping what they think is a life without possibilities." 1728

(AP) — Officials say a pregnant woman jumped into the water to save her 30-year-old husband when a shark latched onto his shoulder as he was snorkeling in the Florida Keys.The attack happened Sunday morning along Sombrero Reef, off Marathon. Andrew Eddy had just gotten into the water when the shark bit into him.Deputies say the Atlanta man's wife, Margot Dukes-Eddy, dove into the water without hesitation and pulled him to safety.Medics waiting on the beach flew Eddy to Miami for treatment. His condition wasn't available, but deputies described the injury to his shoulder as severe.No one else was injured by the shark.The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the shark was described by witnesses as being 8 to 10 feet long.“This was a very rare medical crisis for the Florida Keys, but everyone came together — including those witnesses on the boat to 911 Communicators to all our emergency responders — in order to ensure this victim received life-saving care,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay in a press release. 1035

Marijuana is still federally illegal, but multiple states will vote on either medical or recreational marijuana measures this election. "South Dakota is incredibly conservative."This upcoming election, South Dakota is looking at a traditionally liberal ballot measure -- allowing medical marijuana."It's about 70 to 30 red to blue. And if you're red, you typically aren't pro-marijuana," David Tingle, a resident of Sioux Falls since 1996, said.But pro-marijuana organizations are looking to change that."We have patients from every single demographic. We have patients that are 6-month-old babies with seizure disorders up to 90 plus-year-old people," said Mentele, The organization has been working on patient access to medical marijuana in South Dakota for six years. There's a lot of us that have given our lives to this," she said.South Dakota is the first state to vote on medical marijuana, Measure 26, and recreational marijuana, Amendment A, in the same election.
