(KGTV) — An elderly driver led Los Angeles-area officers on a slow-speed pursuit on the 101 Freeway Wednesday, before being taken into custody.The driver began the pursuit with California Highway Patrol officers just after 1 p.m. in the San Gabriel Valley area, according ABC-affiliate KABC. CHP officers tried to pull the driver's SUV over for a carpool violation but the vehicle continued down the freeway, KABC reported.Officers followed the driver at normal highway speeds through Glendale and into the San Fernando Valley, before officers pulled in front of the driver's SUV and slowed the vehicle down.As officers approached the vehicle, the driver was cooperative and stepped out of the vehicle without incident.The driver, who appeared to be an elderly man, seemed disoriented as officers took him into custody, KABC reported. 842

(KGTV) - A bill that would prevent California pet stores from selling pets raised in "puppy mills" is heading to the governor's desk.Assembly Bill 485, also known as the Pet Rescue and Adoption Act, would require pet stores within the state to only sell dogs, cats, and rabbits from obtained from animal shelters or non-profit rescue organizations.The bill passed the state Senate Tuesday by a vote of 38-0.RELATED: Heartache amid fight to end mistreatment of petsIt's now on its way to Governor Jerry Brown's desk for approval. The governor has until Oct. 15 to sign the bill into law.Thursday the legislation's author, Assemblymember Patrick O'Donnell (D - Long Beach), said the issue at hand "is very personal to me.""My family has two rescue dogs; this issue is very personal to me," O’Donnell said in a release. "In addition to saving animal life, AB 485 is also good for taxpayers. (KGTV) -- A San Diego woman posted video online Tuesday after she spotted a bobcat roaming through her backyard. Radhika Vidya Chari lives in 4S Ranch, not far from the intersection of Camino San Bernardo and Fox Valley Drive.She says she was picking fruit from her lemon tree when she turned around and saw the animal. “I spotted him when I went to get a lemon from the tree and turn around. I ran to get my phone but he had disappeared,” Chari said. After the sighting, Chari says she questioned herself.“I googled to make sure if [sic] what I had seen.”Later that day, Chari says she was chopping vegetables when something caught her eye outside the kitchen window.“Sure enough, it was a bobcat and I took the video,” she continued. Chari says she reported the sighting to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The department told her to keep her pets indoors and to make loud noises to scare the animal away if she encountered a bobcat again. “I have never seen anything like this before even in the wild.” 1017
