(KGTV) - Boy Scout Troop 363 has been meeting at the Elks Lodge off West Washington in El Cajon for about 35 years: as long as they’ve stored two trailers in their parking lot. One of the trailers is used to store all of their equipment for their monthly camping trips. The other, a trailer full of supplies for their annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser held in November. In June, their camping gear trailer was stolen out of the lot. They went to check the surveillance cameras in the area.Troop Committee Treasurer Julia Flood told 10News, “The one camera that's on this side of the building was cut."With no leads on who might have stolen the trailer, the Boy Scouts decided to collect personal camping gear to continue their trips. A few weeks later, the second trailer, stored in the same lot, was also stolen. The boys' main fundraiser, which raises close to ,000 annually, was their only hope to replace the stolen items the first time."Our hopes was that by the time we had our Christmas fundraiser we’d be able to recoup some of that loss, now they’ve taken our only means we had to try and recoup," said Flood.The Scouts set up a GoFundMe Page asking for ,000. (CNS) - As the San Diego Unified School District prepares to begin its school year remotely next month, other school districts in the region are taking a different tack or waiting to see what unfolds with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.The Cajon Valley Union School District in East County reopened Monday for in-person teaching for the first time since schools were ordered to close by public health orders. Every elementary and middle school is open in Cajon Valley.Using money from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act allocated for safety supplies, distance learning tools and learning loss recovery, Cajon Valley principals and their teams prepared a free summer learning program for interested families. (KGTV) -- Christian Unified Schools of San Diego welcomed junior and high school students back to campus on Tuesday.The El Cajon-based school district brought elementary school students back to school last week, and district officials said now it's time for the other grades to join.The school's website lists many of the precautions they're taking, including multiple temperature checks. Students will get their temperature checked before they are dropped off at school, and then again before entering the building.Everyone on campus must wear a mask or face shield, and students must wash or sanitize their hands before they enter each classroom.The district says social distancing will be observed in all classrooms. Plexiglass barriers will be at each desk.All the classrooms are equipped with cleaning stations to be used between each class.Teachers will hold school religious services outside, and chapel will have limited seating.The district says each night staff will clean the entire facility. 1028
