Recently, 90 million people had their Facebook account’s breached. Many are still trying to log back into their page, but are unsuccessful in their attempts. Cyber experts say you should first focus on protecting your personal information that could have been compromised. Tekesha Saffold realized her account was breached when she logged in, but soon realized it wasn’t her account. She reached out to Facebook by phone, but she got an automated recording directing her to their troubleshooting page online. “I have no access to my account at this point, and it has all my information in it,” Saffold says. Saffold completed the steps Facebook told her to take in order to gain access back into her account, but it didn’t work.Cyber expert Fred Kneip, with Cyber GRX, says the most important thing to do is figure out what other accounts you sign into using your Facebook credentials. “The first things hackers do is take those passwords or credentials,” he explains. Hackers try to apply those passwords to banking sites and healthcare sites to get more information, and ultimately, steal your identity. That’s why Kneip says to focus on your passwords.“If you are updating your passwords and using unique passwords, that’s the safest way to address this,” Kneip says.He also suggests turning on the dual-factor notification on Facebook. It sends you a text with a set of numbers you have to plug into get into your account, along with your password. He says it’s twice the protection.   1592

President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court asking the highest court in the country to step in and overturn several decisions the Pennsylvania Supreme Court made regarding the 2020 election.The cert petition and motion to expedite were filed Sunday and asks the U.S. Supreme Court to fast-track the case because of the upcoming January 6 date when Congress will receive the Electoral College results ahead of the inauguration on January 20. According to a statement on the Trump campaign website, they are asking for the U.S. Supreme Court to "order responses by December 23 and a reply by December 24." The court challenge doesn’t focus on allegations of voter fraud, like previous efforts by the campaign, instead it challenges three decisions in particular by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court regarding mail ballots. The Trump campaign says the state court overstepped its constitutional role.The three decisions resolved multiple lower court cases, and did four things, according to the Trump campaign: prohibited counties from comparing mail ballot signatures to those on file, said campaigns and political parties can’t challenge ballots as they are being processed and counted, allowed limitations on observers to the vote count in Philadelphia, and allowed ballots to count even if voters had forgotten to fill out the address or date on the envelope.The campaign argues by making these decisions, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court treated ballots differently in different counties and violated equal protection guarantees and took away the power of the state legislature to determine how federal elections are run.“Collectively, these three decisions resulted in counting approximately 2.6 million mail ballots in violation of the law as enacted by the Pennsylvania Legislature,” reads the petition.Click here to read the petitionClick here to read the motion for expedited considerationIf the state Supreme Court is found to have made an error, the campaign argues, that would mean “over 110,000 invalid ballots were illegally counted — more more than enough to have affected the outcome of the election, where the margin between the two principal candidates for President currently stands at 80,558.”The filing also admits that it might be too late to change the results of the 2020 election, however President Trump may run again, they argue, and these problems could still persist.“The legal issues presented by this petition, namely, whether the alteration of state election laws by non-legislative officials in the states is unconstitutional, will likely recur in future elections — including in the presidential election in 2024, in which Petitioner is constitutionally eligible to run,” the petition states.Electors gathered last week in every state to cast their ballots, formalizing President-elect Joe Biden’s election win. 2892

President Donald Trump says he has asked the SEC to study whether to stop requiring companies to report quarterly earnings.In speaking to business leaders, one told him a twice-a-year reporting system would allow companies the flexibility and cost savings companies need to "Make business (jobs) even better in the U.S." Trump tweeted Friday morning. Trump said he directed the SEC to look into a change in its requirements.Public companies must report their sales, profits and the state of the company's balance sheet every quarter. That has been required since the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, which was put in place to give more confidence and transparency to investors in the wake of the 1929 stock market crash. That act also created the SEC, which sets the regulations which govern those quarterly reports.Businesses have long complained that the reports require company executives to focus too much on the short term. Juicing numbers impresses investors, but it can force companies to miss out on long term trends. One of the reasons Tesla CEO Elon Musk wants to take his company private, he told his employees last week, was the way quarterly reports distort decisions at the company.President Barack Obama has also criticized quarterly reports.Speaking to the New York Review of Books in 2015, Obama said that he had talked to a large number of businesses executives who told him, "Because they've got quarterly reports to shareholders and if they've made a long-term investment that may pay off way down the line, or if they're paying their employees more now because they think it's going to help them retain high-quality employees, a lot of times they feel like they're going to get punished in the stock market.
